Do you have a favorite television show, if so, what is it, and why do you like it?

I have to admit, I'm a sucker for NCIS.  I enjoy all three of the permutations, but the original is my all-time favorite.  I think this is the reason why, or one of the top reasons...I've always enjoyed the technical side of procedural shows, but felt the characters were a bit one-dimensional.   I LOVE the characters on NCIS.  I cried when Kate died, I was so sad when Ziva ran (and just felt like I'd been kicked when they brought her daughter to Tony to raise).  I'm going to miss Tony so very much, as well.  The characters are so well done, and they just get deeper and truer each season.  I know I'll have to say goodbye to Ducky sooner or later.  David McCallum is just so old, it's inevitable.  He was born in 1933, so he's coming up on 83 this September.  I'm glad they brought Jimmy in, so that I would get to know and care about that character well ahead of time.  I think I could manage without any one of the characters except for Gibbs and Abbey.  THEY are so intrinsic to the show that losing either of them would probably make me quite watching.  Lord, I even wept a tear or two when Ned Dorneget got blown up.  I liked that kid.  Even Ari appealed to that co-dependant streak that keeps me living with a cat.

I really enjoy both NCIS and Modern Family but have to admit right now I'm hooked on an old show:  Arrested Development.  I missed it when it was on and it leaves me in stitches every time I watch it.  I also really like Midsomer Murders, although the older episodes are much better, I think.

I have been, since about midway through the first season, and still am a Supernatural fan. The show has held me throughout the entire eleven seasons; even when I was ranting and raving about all the dumb crap that was pulled, I still watched and am looking forward to season 12.

And that's why I am Winchester

There is the Big Bang Theory, but feel a little off about it lately for various reasons. Still, will have a special spot in my heart, and will watch the final season. Once Upon a Time was a big one I was a fan of, though admittedly it is getting a bit...I don't know how to explain it! But again, will still watch.

I enjoy mysteries, and I tend to favour ones that are historically placed - characters/actors are unique, interesting and funny and compliment each other so well. I like how you have to use mental and observation skills instead of a buttload of tests that reveal a lot of things instantly. The murders are done well. I haven't been interested in modern murder mysteries in years since nowadays they are often the same with one another in many ways, and usually lack that witty subtle humour and character spark. Sometimes even the whole atmosphere is gloomy and depressing for other shows. Plus with some, they tend to sometimes squeeze in their own current political views, which kills it for me.

I do like a lot of True Crime shows too.

But will have good memories of the early days of CSI
and I did enjoy the early years of NCIS.

And I enjoy sitcoms that are funny, original and clever. And I think most people know by now I love historical documentaries

I love Bob's Burgers on Fox.  And I am normally what you would consider a very serious person, professional, but for some reason I'm in love with that show.

Ah!  Another Big Bang Theory fan!  I loved it for so long, but @Cassiopea  I am a bit torn about how I feel about it now.  The dynamics in the show just aren't the same anymore, but like you, I will watch till the end.

I also loved Criminal Minds....another one I'm torn about, since Shemar Moore and Thomas Gibson are gone...it was bad enough when Gideon was killed off, but now that Hotch and Derek are gone, I don't think I can stand it!!

And of course, we watch The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, and I got into Preacher for a while.  But I quickly get disgruntled with those shows.

My secret Netflix/Hulu binge shows are haha I hate to admit this, are Family Guy and South Park!!  Sometimes I want to watch something stupid and mindless that requires no thought!

I usually watch comedies (just finished binge-watching 30 Rock) but I LOVE Sherlock on PBS. So engaging and smart and funny. Can't wait for the new series next year.

My DH loved that show. DD used to watch it also. I've seen it (with DH) but it never grabbed me. The only thing I liked about it was the eye candy. Those boys are quite easy to look at!

I don't have cable. I shut it off in 8/2013 when DD left for school. Now all I have is Netflix and my Amazon Prime streaming. Netflix picked up one of my favorite shows of all time. Trailer Park Boys. It's Canada's single greatest gift to humanity.
It's hilarious. It's crude and low brow and it's also genius.

I love Wentworth. It's such a good show. I really enjoyed containment too but it was a limited series so just one season.

Yes, they are. The first time I saw the show was when the boys were going through the practical jokes. Dean had put itching powder in Sam's clothes. I had just come home from a meeting, Rick was bowling, and I went to the bedroom to change into sweats. Turned the tv on and was channel-surfing. Came across Sam flexing a bare pec, sat down on the bed, and said, "Hello there!" And that was beginning for me.

And yes, I do float in the shallow end of the pool more often than I care to admit. Those two are very easy on the eyes. I even like Mark Sheppard, the guy who plays Crowley. And Misha Collins who plays Castiel. But I loved Jim Beaver; he was great as Bobby Singer.

I'm still a Sam Girl at heart.

I love Joe Mantegna on Criminal Minds. He could put his shoes under my bed anytime. LOL. I will miss Shemar Moore but I really did not like Thomas Gibson that much.

I also like Bob's Burgers.

We haven't had cable in several years; but the main ones I watched when we did have it were NCIS and NCIS LA.  I have watched a few of the newer NCIS episodes on the CBS website.  Those really aren't shows you can watch with kids present; and my kids go to bed a bit late compared to other kids their ages.  So that cuts out a lot of TV shows really.

DH and I used to enjoy some of the reality based shows like American Pickers and Storage Wars.  They'd seem safe enough to watch with kids around; but then they start dropping some language I don't want to hear coming out of a 3 year olds mouth.  So that was that.

I do love watching Fixer Upper on Netflix.
DIY and HGTV used to be my primary channels to watch.  I loved all the "Crasher" shows.

@MoochNNoodles   If you've cut the cable and have Netflix---have you tried Hulu?? Hulu seems to have a lot more family-friendly network series shows in their mix than Netflix, and has them broken out by network as well so they are easier to find.  We have both, and I'm starting to lean more towards Hulu since it has most of the Netflix shows I watch anyway.  I haven't decided to let one go yet because although I like Hulu, Netflix seems to run smoother and load faster with our internet connection.

this is a hard question for me! i tend to watch one show a lot for a while, then switch to another and do the same, and so on. then i jump between shows i like.

i've been watching a lot of The Americans lately, as well as Orange is the new Black. i'm anxiously awaiting the new seasons of Orphan Black and Blindspot, as well as Dr Pol.

I've weathered several cast changes with Criminal Minds, as well.  I think, since I managed to get over Mandy Patinkin leaving (Joe Mantegna was a masterful job of replacement casting), I'm pretty good on changes now, although the two characters who are really central for me are Garcia and Reid.  Those two have to be there, or I won't be,

Last season for Bones coming up.  It will be a 12 episode wrap-up and goodbye.  I loved the show in the beginning, and have stayed with it, although once Bones and Booth got together, some of the oomph was gone.  One of the things I like best about it was the little play with Kathy Reichs...she is who Brennan is based on, and she wrote the Bones books.  Bones, on the other hand, writes books about Kathy Reichs.

OH...I used to enjoy The Mentalist, as well,  May get that on DVD.

I think we briefly looked at it back when we got rid of the cable.  I should give it a second look.  We also have Amazon Prime; but I find we watch more on Netflix because there is no sorting what is a prime show and what isn't.
