Hi all this is my first post and its a long one sorry in advance x anyway got my cat online about 3 months ago, told she was an indoor and had been desexed, however I noticed she was quite happy going into the garden and back, she started to become very affectionate and vocal I thought this was because she was getting to know us, now I think she was going in heat!! At the time I didn't think so she wasn't showing any other heat signs,, however when she was in the garden I heard her make a really loud growl/shreik and I ran out panicked to find her rolling around with a big black male cat who belongs to my neighbour who says he is intact!!! After a few weeks her nipples began to pink up and I realised she was not desexed after all (they should have just said that as I would have done it anyway) few weeks after that she started showing at the sides, eating more, basically all the pregnant signs, I think now she's at least 7/8 weeks, I didn't take note of the date at the time as I thought she couldn't get pregnant,,I have everything ready she loves her nesting box in her own room, she's been on kitten food from 4 weeks preg, from last week she has wanted constant attention follows me everywhere, still wants out, the only problem is that from last week she looks slimmer and to be honest she wasn't looking that big for being 7/8 weeks preg anyways but deffo noticeably bigger if that makes sense, but now she looks even skinnier, her mammory glands are swollen and sagging, but no milk, and her nipples where pink but now they look like they've went pale pink/off white, some are long and thin with a black dot on the tip, some are small and stubby, I'm really not sure what's going on first cat and first litter, could this be a phantom pregnancy,, I've looked into resorption and she was visibly pregnant so to far on for that, and abortion? I've searched the whole house no feautises. My main worries are her nipples and her size, any advice appreciated, please no bashing she and any kittens will be spayed at the earliest opportunity thanks x

It could be a phantom pregnancy, or she may have dropped. It's hard to say. Can you post a picture of her belly?

Your best bet is to get an x-ray at the vet. If she's not pregnant, you should have her spayed. Repeat estrus cycles can lead to pyometra, a potentially deadly uterine infection.

Hi again still trying to get a PIC she's being very awkward, meowing to have her tummy rubbed one minute then (play) biting/scratching the next, shes also been acting quite erratic today with the meowing n rubbing on everything lol she even started treading with her butt in the air, which is making me think she's on heat. She is also getting this random twitch in her back, so weird, thinking it was a phantom pregnancy after all thank god lol she will b spayed next week if that's the case @sarthur2 xxxxxxxxx

If she's twitching, it may be labor. That's what it sounds like to me. Pregnancy hormones can mimic heat - same hormones!

I would not take her for the spay until you are certain of what her condition is.

not sure what's going on, myla is still having mild tightenings, still not very frequent, and she is still eating, not sure if yesterday was pre labour coz surely if it was stage 1 labour yesterday she would have progressed by now? Was also wondering, if it was a false pregnancy can they have a false labour?

Actually, pre-labor can go off and on for several days. And once stage one begins, it can last 24 hours, resulting in pushing, which is stage 2.

I've never heard of false pregnancy generating false labor.

Can you get her tummy x-rayed? It will tell you what's inside her.

She still sounds pregnant to me. What we don't want is contractions that are not strong enough to push kittens out.

yes that's what I thought so hopefully its been pre labour n going into stage 1, I've just noticed where she was lying there's a dryed in whitish spot its kind of powdery,, and I noticed a couple of clear drops on the floor where she was standing? Yes I can get her to a vet I tried last week and when she saw the carrier she got really upset and kept hiding from me it really stressed her out so the vet said to leave it for now n only bring her in when really necessary my vet is great, always at the other end of the phone when needed, she said the same as u sarthur2 that all seems normal for now to keep a very close eye on her, am thinking give her another day and if no progress take her in for a check just to be safe xxxx

I think another day or two is fine. It sounds like she's having normal pregnancy mucus discharge. It can take first-time moms awhile to get through the stages!

Try to relax and be patient. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
