This weekend I will take Sunny to his first show. It will be a first for me too - I am showing him as a household pet. He does not meet the breed standard so can't be shown in championship/premiership.
I am not sure how he will handle it but the show is close to home so if he is unhappy Saturday, he can stay home Sunday. I hope he has fun though. He has the same personality type that his brother Jack does and Jack enjoyed showing. My club president recruited me to help a new person who is interested in showing her Persian as a household pet. Should be fun - get to meet a new person and share some of the tips I have learned along the way.

This is day 1 of the show. Sunny made 3 out of 4 finals. Not to bad for his first time out. His sister Camie (I showed her in Championship) only made 1 final, but the class is a tough one with a national winning cat competing in the same class. We will be leaving in about an hour for day 2 - hopefully as good as yesterday for Sunny and better for Camie!

We had the same results. Overall 2 finals for Camie and 6 out of 8 rings for Sunny.  Since the CFA gives titles to HHP now, I don't know how many points he earned - I still have to figure them out. It doesn't matter though because I am not sure I will continue to show him. It was fun but I have trouble letting go of the mindset that showing is a way to judge how  your breeding program stacks up to the breed standard. There is no breed standard in HHP - couldn't have one.I have plenty of time to decide because our next show isn't until November. He seemed to enjoy it though.

It's good he enjoyed it. HHP showing really is just for fun. How many HHPs were in the show?

I recently found out that because Sunny is registered as a Persian and not as a household pet, his points (70) don't count. Since I wasn't sure how I felt about showing him in HHP, I suppose I won't change his registration to HHP just so I can possibly get a title. I feel bad that he took finals away from cats who are registered as HHP at the show. They should have gotten those points.
