Hello!

My cat (12 years) have diagnosed (in ultrasound test) with cholangiohepatitis, cholecystitis with cholelithiasis, she have partial bile duct obstruction, that why gall bladder have too much bile. In bile duct and gall bladder she have sludge ,but DON’T have stones.

Vet prescribed her:

Metronidazole  250 mg ¼ tab x2

Synolox 50 mg analog Clavomax 1 tab x 2

Unfortunately, nothing to dissolve sludge.

I also wanted give her Actigall or Ursodiol (ursodeoxycholic acid), but Vet told it could worsen this situation, because it produce more bile  and in  this situation it not recommend. (in my opinion he think that Actigall acts like Rowachol or Allochol, but it not the same), On internet have read, that Actigall emptying gall bladder and also dissolving stones in this case it would be sludge . What do you think about this, you have more experience working with this medicament? In my country mostly Vet don’t know what is Actigall and don’t work with it. The only option what they can offer is  operation, which is risky because of age.  I would be very grateful if you suggest the best option whether i can use this med or not?

I started give her only metronidazole  250 mg ¼ tab x2, because I have fear to give her two antibiotic  at the same time because of liver enzymes were high.  First three day everything was ok (she ate almost normally), but in fourth she didn’t eat anything so I force her to feed, and also in fifth day she didn’t eat anything. So i don’t give her metronidazole anymore. Now i will start give her Synolox 50 mg maybe better would be enrofloxacin in this case?

Perhaps there is other medication to treat this disease or other recommendations.

Thank you!

Is there a different Vet you can take her to, just to get a second opinion to see if they are in sync?

We are not Vets here on this site, so can't give you medical advise.

I do know that with the liver, sometimes their appetites will wane, so it's a good thing you are handy with the force feeding.  Good for you.  Keep that up because she cannot go with eating...that will just make things worse.  Sounds like you know what you are doing here.
