Hey guys, first post to this site, I so wish this wasn't my first post. Earlier today I was petting my 12 year old American short hair Berry and noticed a decent sized lump that seems quite hard, my heart dropped and a small panic attack set in as I continued to roll the lump around in my fingers and immediately began thinking of the worst. Here's are my observations 1. A hard roughly Nickel sized lump 2.isn't attached to anything except for maybe under the skin when I grab the scruff and feel it. 3 it's located by his shoulder on the front left leg. 4. It doesn't bother him at all when I touch it. And 5. I think I can feel the borders of it and it does feel a little irregular but I'm not 100% sure I'm still kind of in a panic mode. I know I need to get him to the vet to have it looked at but money is kind of tight right now so I dunnon when I can get him in after his detail surgery. I dunno what to do and I'm so scared because if it is cancer I know that it could be quite aggressive. Sorry about that I let everything run away from me. I've just had this cat since my sophomore year in high school and has been with my through three girlfriends. He's my rock. Again sorry

No shots, the vet keeps reminding me to get his vaccines

Hmm the lump on my cat has been freaking me out too. It's in the same place but she is only 2. I looked it up and it said it is very common for cats to get those after vaccines. I'm not sure what to do either

I know that if the lump isn't fixed and moves it is a good sign but as you stated get him to a vet as soon as you can to check it out. I hope it is nothing serious

One of my cats had something very similar recently, but on her belly. It turned out to be a harmless cyst, the vet opened it and released a lot of grease and now it has gone. Most lumps turn out harmless, so try not to panic.

I agree, my sister's lab has one on her tummy, & it turned out to be just a fatty cyst, so the vet left it alone. I hope it turns out to be just something like that. I think if it were something serious, it would be painful, & there would've been other, more serious symptoms by now, from the size it is. Trust me, unfortunately, I know about that one from experience.
Keep us posted.

well the vet said not to worry to much about it right now just monitor closely and if we notice a change in the size or shape or a change in his behavior then to bring him in immediately but by the way it was described he isn't too worried. He said it's rather normal for senior cats to start developing random lumps and bumps.
