Two days ago, my cat didn't eat, drink, or poop for 24 hours. He was lethargic and slept the majority of the day. We took him to the vet yesterday, and they gave him laxatives and some electrolytes to rehydrate him. He started eating again and running around the house. Now, he is once again lethargic, just twenty four hours after the vet visit. What can we do? We cannot afford X-rays or blood tests.

How old is your cat? Spayed or neutered? Apart from giving laxatives and elecrolytes, did the vet mentioned anything else? No fever, no viral infection, no nothing?
Did he had a fall and hurt himself or something?
How about giving him another flavor of food and see if he eats. He cannot go on without eating or drinking. If he does, something is real wrong here.

He is only five months old, and was neutered at the shelter I adopted him from. He did not have a fever, nor did he fall. I have tried giving him treats aside from his normal kibble and wet food, but he will not eat them either. He ate his standard dinner and drank a couple sips of water last night after coming back from the vet, but he did not eat much since this morning.

Was he neutered at a very young age or was he neutered around 4 months ago?
Neutered cats sleeps more than usual. My boy is neutered and he sleeps a lot till sometimes he forgets to wake up to eat :lol3:
How many times and how much food a day for him? Maybe you try feeding him at another part of the house? Observe him further and if it still persists, no choice but to get him to the vet again. Hope he does better later.

He was neutered when I got him, so around/ before three months old. I feed him 1/3 cup of dry and 1/2 can of wet food everyday, usually split into 2-3 servings. His behavior struck me as odd because out of the blue two days ago, he stopped eating and slept for almost the entire day. Because he didn't seem to want to move much, I moved all of his stuff into one room, but he still didn't want to eat. The medicine the vet gave him seemed to help, but the problem came back quickly. I will keep my eyes on him.
