I am looking for help in the Dallas area.  Just over a week ago, we found two, couple day old, abandon kittens in our shed. We left them for a day but mama never came back. We took them in and have been caring for them. Their eyes have since opened (one 6 days ago the other 4) and they are eating well, healthy babies. There was no way we could leave them to die in our shed, but we really cannot keep these babies because of an allergy within the household; as of now they are contained so we can manage but we need to find them a forever home. They are very loving already; love being held and purr non-stop during feeding. I am newer to the area so I do not have a network group established here and need help finding a foster or permanent home for these love bugs. I love these two fur balls so much already and I just want them placed somewhere safe.

If someone could help point us in the right direction to helping these guys find a home, I would really appreciate it.

I wish I lived in Dallas, I'd take all of them.

I suppose if I were in your shoes with no local connections, I'd call local vets, perhaps they can point you in the right direction as far as which are the best local No-Kill Shelter's in your area.

Hopefully there is a member from your area who can give you some advice.

They are really sweet.

Best to you and the wee ones.

Where I live, if this happened to me, I would call my local no-kill shelter who would definitely take them. I would have to donate though for their care.

Good place for them is here:
http://spca.org/surrender

However, it will also mean keeping them until 8 weeks and 2 pounds. They will need to be healthy at the time, and you will need to have an appointment to surrender.

You CAN call the number and explain the situation, but the likelihood of them getting in at this age is pretty slim as it requires having a foster able to take them right away.

You will also need to claim them as yours and not strays (found but been taking care of for over a week is good enough for "ownership" as technically they are actually your responsibility now).

If this route does not work out or you are not able to keep them til 2 lbs, then you can go to petfinder.com and search for other rescues that may be able to take them. Surrendering to DAS is NOT a good alternative here....because of their age it is potentially a death sentence to surrender to the city shelter. SPCA of Texas does pull animals from DAS but again, it is contingent on fosters so not something to bank on, especially right now as there are LOTS of kittens in shelters.

It kills me that I live. NEar Dallas and I can't take them in if I hadn't recently gotten 2 kittens I would take them !! I would ask around and ask family or anyone who might want kittens, and if you don't find anyone you know find a no kill shelter.

Welcome to TCS!  Thank you for saving these babies. You are their hero and they will never forget you or your kindness.

They are absolutely precious. I hope they find wonderful homes.
