My 7 year old cat Monkey has been going through an awful time. She's been having eye issues for the last couple months which has slowly progressed into her being almost completely blind. She's also had ear infections. At one point her eyes were both completely dialated, she was stumbling and dizzy, drooling, and wouldn't eat. I've had her to 3 different vets. Everyone kept handing me antibiotics and steroids. Even after the ear infection cleared up she still had vision trouble. They kept saying it was probably inflammation and she would have to be on steroids for the rest of her life. I finally got so fed up I demanded bloodwork and better answers. Up to this point nobody had done bloodwork. So today they did the bloodwork which only showed some inflammation in her body. But the vet, clearly seeing my frustration and worry, came up with the possibility of 3 different infections she could have. 2 that are bacterial, toxoplasmosis and cryptococcosus. The other is a viral infection, FIP, which she said has no treatment. The only way to tell for sure is with a CT scan or MRI, but they don't have the machine so we are going to be treating her for the bacterial infections with more steroids and antibiotics we haven't tried yet. Fingers crossed this works. She'll be on prednisolone and clindamycin.

This sounds so painful for your girl!  I hope the vet is able to figure out what's going on.

It really has been. The inflammation has made it hard to eat. She can't have hard food anymore because it hurts for her to chew and swallow it. The steroids have helped in that process a little, but I have her eating packets of food so she doesn't have to chew it. She can lap it up easier. The ear infections were painful. It's horrible to watch her go through this. I hope they have the right combination of medication this time.
