My cat delvered her first kitten at 11:45 pm and the second one at 3:30 am. Ultrasound that we did 3 weeks ago showed 4 kittens. Its 1:45 pm now, almost 10 hours but she isnt showing any signs of labor. She is sleeping, eating, nursing and using the litter as normal. Should I be worried or this is normal? This is her first pregnancy.

No, you dont need too worry. Be vigilant and observe, but as long she is OK, no visible problems, happy with her alredy born kittens, you can wait and see.   Pauses are not uncommon - hours, yes even days...   So, be ready but you dont need to worry nor panic.

Do you know which day of pregnancy its now?  Im sure the vet helped you to count.

Have you taken weight on the kittens?  Its good to do it asap, so you have a count and can follow changes, if they gain properly and such.

Please continue to report, even if nothing much happens

So, she gave birtg to the 3rd kitten after 17 hours of gap. I stepped out for 10 minutes and she delivered and did not rub the baby or lick the sac. Unfortunately, the third one didn't make it. Even with the first two I had to put them under her chin after gently rubbing them to start movements or sounds. Taking her to the vet in the morning to confirn if there is more or she is done. Here's picture or two.

She had a 4th kitten inside which was dead, she was bleeding and profusely licking herself so we had to make an emergency visit to the vet. She was pregnant spayed today. The first 2 kittens are fine. Sad about the later 2. Actually very sad. Its heartbreaking but the vet says its not unusual for first time mothers and that the kitten #4`s size was quite big so that may have been a reason. Yes I have named the Kitten #3 "SKY" and we buried him yesterday. The 4th I have named "Rainbow". She is under observation now post-op. Will keep you all updated.

The surgery went well. She is nursing her new borns. The vet will keep her for another day for observation. She was calm and purring when I visited her. Can't wait to have them back home tomorrow. Here is a picture I took at the vet

Hello Everyone,

Another update, the mom and kids are doing ok. Thank God. Gaining average 10 grams a day.

However, mom and the second kitten have caught flu. After a visit to the vet, Mishka has been given a 7 day course of antibiotics. I take both into the shower for steam 2 or 3 times a day and have started using a humidifier to help relieve the baby from congestion. Anything else I can do?

Thanks!!

That's really about it. Is the baby on antibiotics too? Is mom still eating well?
