Hi,

I have a 5 year old male neutered Ragdoll cat who MUST eat only canned food due to urinary problems. I am feeding him one 5 oz can a day or two 3 oz cans a day. He looks a little pudgy but still hungry? How much should he be eating? I have no issues measuring kibble but canned food is a different story....thanks!

I guess "it varies" was a little broad, wasn't it! :lol3: I meant all cats are different. I have three indoor/outdoor cats. They get a lot of exercise. Two of them weigh about 10 lbs., the third weighs 14. The 14-pounder isn't overweight, he's just a tall cat. They each get 1-1/3 cans (5.5) per day. Ozzy, the bigger one, supplements his diet with hunting.

They get plenty of food for their size, but the way they hover around the food bowl when I'm in the kitchen, you'd think they were starving to death. I just have to tell them "It's not dinner time yet!"

If your cat is indoor only and doesn't get as much exercise, a 5.5 oz. can per day would probably do it. Hopefully the article gave you some insight. :)
