Any hint of Norwegian Forest Cat ancestry?

I've always wondered if Keith's genetics had a little Norwegian forest cat in the mix. He is a big boy. Large paws, long tail, muscular (ok, maybe a little fat). Also, don't know if it means anything but when we first got him at around 6 months his hair was medium length. His hair wasn't what I would consider long until he was a year. It was a while after that he turned into a pure fluffball. I thought that was kind of weird.

Young Keith

Slightly older

Keith now

Any ideas?

I'm trying to get him to cooperate for some new pics.
We recently shaved his back and sides (it's so hot in Florida in summer). I hope that doesn't mess things up.

Whatever he is, he is very handsome.  We would classify him at our shelter as a DMH.  Maybe a Maine Coon mix, considering his size (if he is over 15 pounds or so)

It's entirely possible that he has at least a little NFC in him but without any knowledge of his linage or papers, he'd be classified as a domestic longhaired. One thing I can say for sure is that no matter what you call him, he is absolutely magnificent. He is gorgeous!!! .

Here is the breed information page for the NFC from the Cat Fanciers' Association.  http://cfa.org/breeds/breedskthrur/norwegianforestcat.aspx

Thanks for the info and I will pass on the compliment to Keith.
I know I'm biased but I just think his cuteness level is off the charts!

My, he us wery fluffy!

With those big lips of his, I'd be more inclined to say Mainecoon over NFC. But who know what went into Keith's genetics. All we can really know for sure is that he is a super cute Domestic Long hair. [emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128571[/emoji]

I also have a little fluffball (named Tesla) that I think resembles a Norwegian Forest Cat. He was the same as Keith, he was super fluffy as a kitten, then in his "teenager" phase he almost looked short haired other than his tail, and then BAM he became a super fluffball.

Tesla as a kiiten:

His awkward teenage phase:

And then BAM! All the fluff!!

Oh my gosh! Tesla is amazingly cute!
He's got the sweetest face.  Thanks for letting me know that there are other cats out there that had shorter hair when they were young. If it wasn't for my pictures of Keith I would have thought my mind was playing tricks on me. I just never knew hair length could change. I really appreciate the info.
