Hi. My first post. My love is ToiToi, named by my daughter who died a year ago. Toi Toi still grieves - as do I. But she developed megacolon and I've been looking for ways to help her poop. Just got her back from the hospital. I'm not tech savvy and tried to enter several sites here and failed so here I am. Any advice on megacolon would make me happy today.

Does anyone else have a cat that fell in love with Good Livin' freeze dried chicken only to have PetCo apparently stop making it? An employee suggested customer demand has generated continued production of cat food. Maybe?

I'm going to list several links that you can click on here, and see if that helps.  I'm not an expert in this, but I can google like a fiend!  The descriptions sound a bit dire, but they talk about worst case scenarios,

That last one is an actual conversation on here from 2009, but still pertinent.  OH...I do know that when very young, orphaned kittens become constipated, and they very often do the recommendation is a few drops of olive oil in their formula.  Perhaps a little mixed in food would help?  Hopefully, after this slow weekend, our regulars will be here and have some other suggestions!

Get PEG---polyethylglycol. It's what Miralax or Restoralax is---for people to clear out their colons before colonoscopies.

a half tea spoon a day in wet food to start, and you can increase to a teaspoon a day. Please consult with your vet prior to starting, but this saved my boy who was diagnosed at 2 yrs of age with megacolon and is now almost 17.

I am SO SO sorry about your daughter. I can't even begin to know how you and toi toi feel. ((((hugs)))
