should I cut (shorten_trim) cat whiskers???

alice's whiskers are very long and they look

kind of funny... is it bad if I shorten them??

No, don't cut yoru cat's whiskers. Cats use their whiskers as a sort of sensory organ. Whiskers will naturally fall out and will grow back. Kittens often have whiskers and ears and body parts that seem too big for them but as they grow, their body proportions even out.

Please do not cut or shorten the whiskers :nono: What LTS3 said is true.

Just to add on, the whiskers on a cat grows proportionately to its body and they use it to gauge a size of a hole to see if their body can go through the hole.
So please don't shorten them.

OMG, I am so glad you didn't cut them!

Evolution has it set up that a cat's whiskers are the exact length for what they need.

Enjoy the charming nature of your cat's whiskers. It's just another feature that makes them the beautiful animals they are.

Love the pics!  Wurp--the one in my avatar--has very long whiskers.  I call him the Sam Elliott of the cat world

You cant force a kitty to stay on your lap. if you do, they will resent you and that is not the way to start a  relationship.

No doubt as your cat gets older she'll be jumping on your lap to be petted, but she may never be a "lap cat". I have 3 cats and only one of them could be considered a part time lap cat, however, it happens when I'm asleep. lol

My 1yr old Comet will never and would never stay on my lap. I learned that early on. She jumps up on me once or twice a day for me to give her a few quick pets, and then she's off again. My Maine Coon LOVES to sit right next to me on the couch and sleeps right next to me in bed. But rarely does he lay down and sleep on my lap. He has, but it's quite rare.

Misha, my 4 month old, will climb up on me in bed and sleep all night on my chest or in my hair. She HAS to be touching me, but during the day, she jumps on me once in awhile and gives me tons of head buts, but she doesn't stay or sleep on my lap.

3 cats, 3 different personalities. You can't make a cat into a lap cat if it doesn't want to be. Their personality is what it is. With my 3 cats, while I don't have the traditional lap cat, I have 3 cats who follow me everywhere, and show me in so many ways that I matter to them as much as they matter to me. It's those moments that matter, not if a cat sits and stays on your lap.

Why not get a toy and play with it with your cat on your lap? Something that they can bat at and fully engage in? The more she enjoys and gets used to being on your lap, on HER terms, the more she may jump up on her own to sit there. Make it interesting and fun for her and you may find she's game for some lap time.
