We took our 9 week old kitten Pip to the vets yesterday and found out he has fluid in his lungs, they kept him in over night and just got an update that he's eating, drinking and alert, but his breathing isnt much better. They probably will be keeping him in again over night but
I just want to know anybody else's experiences and your pets recovery.

It really depends on what fluid is in there lungs and why as well as how aggressive the treatment is. I've only been able to save one kitten with pneumonia even though I've gone the full gambet. Trach wash to determine the kind of bacteria, strong antibiotics, chest thumps, and an oxygen tank with abuteral. However in my case I was told repeatedly that it was probably viral until I went to a hospital specializing in infectious disease who knew exactly what tests to run. By that time several of the kittens had already passed and one was to weak to make it. I was able to save Joe and all my adults though. Fluid in the lungs is very serious. But it depends on why it's there and what's being done to treat it. If you know the cause, not this is probably the cause but lab tests confirm that this is the cause, then treating it is alot easier and more effective. It also turns out to be cheaper in the end spending more on testing as you don't have to go through the spiral of panic spending and the emotional pain that goes with it.

Pip worsened over night and they're now feeding him with a syringe, if he deteriorates further we may have to let him go.

Unfortunately Pip didn't make it.  I'm closing this on Tiggycat's behalf and sending the condolences of the TCS team.

We will lock this thread out of respect for the little boy.

RIP Little Pip
