My 3 year old cat, Luna is fiv positive. I was told earthborn holistic cat food would be great for her health. because it is grain free etc. Anybody have any thoughts? I want to give her the best nutrition i can to keep her as healthy as i can.

Hi.

I have used Earthborn before. The sea catch. My cats liked it, but it was a little too 'rich' for one of mine and gave her diarrhea. Consult your vet too. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I like Earthborn, although it's fairly low in calories.  It's definitely one of the foods in our rotation.  Just bought some yesterday

My Lokhi likes the chicken cacciatore.   It's basically shredded chicken in gel.  It smells and looks very good.  I would say the one negative that I see is that they use potatoes as a filler.  They got rid of carrageenan but then added the potatoes.     If you cat doesn't have a problem with potatoes then go for it.    As someone mentioned its a low calorie food so you may have to feed a bit more than you would a different food.

Although I don't personally use it I have heard good things from people I know that do.  If it's right for your cats then it's right for you!

I tried their Chicken Catcciatori with Smokey and was not at all impressed with the amount of oil in the food. The shredded chicken was almost swimming in it. Smokey didn't like the flavor either, but that's not much of a criticism since she's so picky.

My 3 yr old Rainy began throwing up recently and had a bit of diarrhea.   He's healthy, rarely ever vomited and never had diarrhea so after much worry I figured out it was the potatoes in Earthborn.    I had only been feeding Earthborn occasionally so it was relatively easy for me to narrow down what could be causing the problem.      He hasn't thrown up since I stopped the Earthborn so fingers crossed I figured out what the issue is.

I was happy when Earthborn eliminated the carrageenan but not too happy they replaced it with a filler like potatoes.   I had stopped buying cases of the food online but would occasional buy cans from my local store because both my cats would eat the food.    But its out now and sadly another cat food crossed off the list.

It's sad that potato is used so much in cat food! One of our cats can't tolerate it, either, and it's in an ever-growing number of foods.
