Yes she came back in 30mins after my last post. She's definitely not going back out, as she has just thrown up and it definitely was not boiled chicken 'sigh', considering that's all I've been giving her. She's now under house arrest for the next few days at least.

It sounds like she went out to eat grass, which cats sometimes do to make themselves throw up to settle their tummies.

Does she seem to be feeling any better in general?

No, she came straight in and curled up next to me and went straight to sleep, she only woke up to throw up and is now curled up asleep again. Whatever she ate was brown [emoji]128563[/emoji]

Yuck. You may want to talk to your vet again tomorrow. Maybe they should run some tests.

Quick question, so cow is back to her normal self. Course of antibiotics is finished for her but I've noticed today, that her tummy feels bloated. I was rubbing her tummy and there was a lump the size of a new potato (only thing I could think of that size lol). I'm unsure what it could be, the last few times she has been to the vet, they have felt her abdomen and have never commented on anything abnormal and I've never noticed it til tonight, also she's just had some boiled chicken and does appear a little bloated at the sides. I'm unsure whether the bloated ness is down to her recently eating (although I've never known her to become that bloated after a meal) but I'm concerned about the lump, is it possible it's due to her constipation (as she hasn't pooped in a couple days, as I think she has a fear of her litter tray). Any suggestions?
Does the abdomen firm up when cats are constipated?

She's constipated. Best thing to do is give Cow wet cat food with a couple of drops of olive oil mixed in. If Cow doesn't poop in the next day, let me know and we'll try a glycerin suppository.

How is Kitty doing?

I was told by the vet just to give her boiled chicken for a while, would it be OK to move her back on to the wet food

Kitty is still throwing up but not as much. She's not had a bowel movement either tbh. I've cleaned out the tray every day and there's no poop in there

Something is not right with Kitty. Can you get her back to the vet tomorrow?

Is she eating and drinking? I'll bet she needs sub-q fluids at the least.

Something is not right with her, she has been vomiting for several days now. No poop due to a lack of food, at least not enough to make her poop.

This is no good, so regardless of what is going on, the number one thing that is critical is hydration, she will be lethargic and sleep constantly when dehydrated, so she most definitely needs fluids given asap.

If this were my cat, I would stop all food, stop the chicken.

Get some clear pediolyte and some chicken only baby food.

I would only feed her baby food, diluted with some pediolyte then warmed up.

As much as she will eat for the next day or so.

This will help her stay hydrated as long as she will eat it.

What strikes me is, cats really don't randomly get sick with various viruses, there really only are a few viruses that cause sickness with no underlying cause, in other words not a urinary infection, not kidney disease, etc, airborn or contact viruses are only uri's, (upper respiratory infections) or panleukopenia (cat parvo)

There must be something more.

What about poisonous cleaners, or coolant outside? How old is Kitty?

For cow to have the same thing then recover, yet a grown adult cat is not recovering makes me think poison. Any cat hating neighbors?

Also I do agree that Cow is likely constipated.

The sudden fighting is likely one of two reasons, Cow's age as she will be coming in to heat soon, or she smells different.

This also made me think something is fishy. Where was cow before they started fighting and she got sick??

Kitty had sub fluids on last vet appt 2days ago. She's eating and drinking well but throwing up small amounts. As far as I'm aware there's no cat hating neighbors but u can never no for certain unfortunately.

Cow was at home as usual, nothing out of the ordinary on cows part. Funnily enough cow isn't retaliating to any of the aggression kitty is giving, she will just sit there and watch or walk off. Luckily, it doesn't appear to be bothering her as you would have thought.

Update: as stated earlier (cows swollen tummy). We have come to bed and usually cow will sleep at the end of my bed or on her bed but tonight, she's sleeping on the floor next to her water bowl. She's drank rather a lot of water in the last few hour's, which is good for hydration but as I've never seen her drink that much or sleep next to her bowl before, it's strange. Why would she suddenly start drinking a lot and want to sleep next to her bowl?

I find this very troubling. Neither of your cats seem well to me.

Have you given them some canned wet food yet?

Because she is not as well and better as it seemed.

This is what they do, sleep in out of the norm spots. My girl with IBD anytime she is not feeling so hot will lay with her water bowl so close her chest gets wet. My other senior cat with CKD and hyperthyroidism will sleep under the bed rather than on it.

Something is wrong here, and I'm sure at this point the vet will agree it is not the norm that is fixed with antibiotics and may want to do a blood panel to look for anything out of the ordinary going on.

I am beginning to wonder if your cat and kitten have parvo virus. They exhibit the symptoms. This is feline distemper.

The most important thing is to keep both of them hydrated. They are possibly running fever, and not eating well, so they are getting dehydrated. This is why Cow is hanging at the water bowl.

Both need the pedialyte and baby food, and possibly fluids again from the vet.

They can recover from this, but not without your vigilance. It's very serious.

How are they today?

They appear OK, kitty is eating well and has had a bowel movement. No throw today. Cow hasn't eaten much but she's playful and drinking plenty, she's not hanging around the water bowl anymore but does go there frequently for a drink

I have given cow wet food with a few drops of olive oil but she's hardly touched it. Maybe because she's so constipated. Kitty is eating her boiled chicken happily and trying to eat cows untouched food also. No throwing up from either of them so far. Kitty seems to have more energy but now cow seems a bit sad :(

Cow doesn't feel well. You can pick up infant glycerin suppositories, cut a tiny piece off, and insert it into her bottom. It should bring on a poop in a few minutes.

I had considered panleuk/parvo, while most symptoms fit, a couple of big ones are not there.

For instance, because the OP does take to vet and gets fixed, surely they've been vaccinated, plus still having any appetite, and quite honestly, because Cow is still alive.....

Kittens can't recover on their own, the very few who do survive have had extremely vigilant/constant care, hospitalized and on IV fluids 24 hrs a day, and either tube fed or IV.

Even in hospitalized cats/kittens, many still can't get through it, this virus causes serious damage internally so by the time the symptoms show, it is well advanced.

I considered FIP, but it doesn't fit.

That's why my mind turned to a substance that has caused this sickness that they just can't shake. Some type of poison, a plant, a cleaner, coolant is always prominent since they WILL drink the sweet tasting liquid, but there is something that connects this with a scent, due to Kitty's sudden aggression, and then she got sick too..............

I say go for bloodwork asap.

@kittycatt  you do understand that whatever is going on with them is quite serious? It doesn't mean they will die, but it does mean that it's vital that you act on this and do everything you can to get to the root of what's going on, as soon as possible, none of us ever want to feel regret and guilt for not doing what they could right away and end up with their cat dying.

As I mentioned before, cats don't have 80 different germ varieties of flu's and colds like people do that we can catch from touching shopping cart handles and door knobs or sharing a drink.

If there were cold symptoms we could chalk it up to that, that's simple and most common, but there are not, and there's not a lot of options of other sudden illnesses, so trust that it is very serious.

What throws you (and us) off is how for instance Cow seemed better after antibiotics, but is clearly not better. So it's not going to be some passing virus like some strain of calicivirus, and something you absolutely must do, is do NOT let either of them get outside. It's natural for cats when they really feel sick from something to go off and hide, and will either wait it out to die or get over it, and that is not what you want.

By the way, what is their normal everyday food they eat?

Ive book another vet appt for tomorrow after my uni exam. Not the best time for an exam :(.

They both eat whiskers wet food. Cow has the kitten pouches and kitty has the normal one for her age. Occasionally, they'll have whiskers dry food. They've never had any problems with them. Since the illness started it's just been boiled chicken for the pair of them, except today I gave cow some of her wet food to help bring on a bm
