First yes I have been seeing a vet. Rocky had the malabsorption test and it was negative. I expected that because he has not small intestine symptoms. He does not have diarrhea or vomit. He has a good appetite. His fur is good and he plays and is affectionate.

He as blood on his anus, sometimes even a drip or two after pooping. He does have rather large stools. (Occasiona ly a bit of loose stool at the end) Probiotics seem to have fixed the bad smell. He eats 3 times a day. He is a big 14 pound cat - not fat just big.  I have tried Canin PV food. He still had bleeding episodes. I am trying a cooked Bravo raw diet of beef and sweet potatoes. He is almost switched and the last two days had more blood than usual oozing from his bum. He also gets a teaspoon of pumpkin in his food at lunch. Maybe too much fiber? Stop with the pumpkin?

Vet said to keep going with the Bravo until he is 100% on the new food. I am getting nervous because of the increased blood.

I feel like I have been going to the vet for months and nothing is getting better. She wanted to do the malabsorption test before trying meds. Now she wants to do a full blood work. I would have done that with the other test.

Help.

I honestly don't have experience with the blood issue, thank goodness.  But my girl has bowel issues, mostly constipation from being on the royal canin urinary so, so I've been experimenting with the pumpkin.

Chestnut is 20 lbs, although I think she lost a pound or two, and what I do is use a hand blender to one can of food, with a half can hot hot water (to break up the fat) and one table spoon of pumpkin.  Now the can, because of the water and pumpkin blended gives me an extra day of food, so it comes to a 1/2 tablespoon of pumpkin per day.  She eats the RC SO diet dry also.

So far this combination has worked, not too soft and not too hard.  It took a while to figure out.

Try cutting back to avoid too soft of a stool

Regarding the blood issue, I hope the vet can figure  it out.

It's a frustrating situation when our wee ones are in pain, all I can say is, hang in there, don't get discouraged.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Best to you - Hope & Chestnut
