Good morning!
 And Happy Friday!

Last week we talked about crackers. This week, let's talk about dip! I love dip, pretty much any kind of dip is on my list. But I think my favorite is Ina Garten's Pan-Fried Onion Dip. It is so good. Second would be a good blue cheese dip. A lot of times when Rick is away, I'll chunk anassortment of fresh veggies and have them with a bit of dip for my supper. And when we have card night at our house, I'll make a variety of dips or spreads. I do love dip.

What's your favorite dip? Got a neat dip recipe to share with us? What do you dip into your dip?

Buffalo chicken dip, spinach and artichoke dip, clam dip and reuben dip. I guess those are the ones I make the most. I've been working on perfecting a beer/cheese dip to serve with soft pretzels. I've just about got it. :)

The only time I have dip is when I am at someone's house..

The best one I have found is the easiest. Trader Joe's spinach artichoke frozen dip.. just nuke and it is awesome! Cheesy, artichokes, spinach, awesomeness!

I am also partial to the plain old onion dip..

Yes, hummus is a good dip.. last year I was addicted to it. I would have that with either some tortilla chips or baby carrots for lunch. I also found a very good roasted onion hummus,--to die for....

I love dip. One of my favourites would be epicure extraordinary cheese dip. I really like the low calorie cottage cheese/greek yogurt dip that I make sometimes to dip veggies in.

I make Spinach and Artichoke dip in the crockpot. My family insists I make it at each holiday, lol.

1 pkg frozen chopped spinach (Defrost it first, and squeeze out as much water as you can)

1 pkg shredded mozzerella cheese (2 cups)

1 block cream cheese (8 oz)

1 jar marinated artichoke hearts (chop it more first)

2-3 garlic cloves (minced well)

salt and pepper to taste

throw it all in the crockpot, mix it well. cook med for about an hour. stir in between.

Serve and enjoy with chips or pretzels or whatever else!

We keep hummus around like a staple here.  I do love tazitki sauce too.  My Dad and I always order that at my favorite Greek restaurant when I visit him.  They have the best flat breads to go with it too.
I also put it on turkey burgers that I've added diced red onion and feta cheese to the meat before cooking.  Everyone eats those right up here!

My other favorites are Karen's Reuben Dip (hard to share...) and one my mom makes with pastrami, sour cream and dill.  I forget what else goes in it.  But she puts it in a "boat" of rye bread.  It's fantastic.  I think I need to make it now because I haven't had that in ages!

Mom and I like the dip mixes we can find at craft fairs too. But really we don't have them that often. There just aren't enough occasions.  Mom has also been eating a primarily vegan diet; so those are out the window 99% of the time.

I like all of those; but right now that beer/cheese dip and soft pretzels sounds AMAZING!!

This was a bad thread to read after skipping breakfast.

Spinach artichoke dip is my favorite with crackers or whatever. As for veggie dips to dip them in... I like ranch nothing special although french onion dip is  good to dip veggies in.

I eat hummus as a staple, but I guess I never thought of it as a dip! :lol3: I guess I do dip bread or crackers in it, but it could also be a spread. . .idk.

I really like the artichoke and jalapeno dip from Costco. Artichoke and spinach will do in a pinch but the little kick from the jalapenos makes it so much better :D.

I like blue cheese dip the best. When I was vegan I age a lot of hummus dip. Now I'm so tired of it I can't lok at it and not get sick and it is so gassey.

Much as I pride myself on my cooking abilities, I'm not above loving something as simple as Lipton's Onion Soup mix made into onion dip.  Great with Wise potato chips and even veggies, or chunks of bread.

I hardly make this because it's really addictive!

do you have a recipe for the clam dip? A lot time ago I used to have a great recipe for it. I tried to find it last year, and I could not. Must have thrown it out.

I remember it was a canned of chopped clams, cream cheese, garlic powder, perhaps something else.. not sure though...It made a great spreading dip on ritz crackers...

I remember the craze of what we called, 'crabbies' in the 70-80-90.... it was an english muffin topped with a dip of canned crabmeat, mayo,  Old English cheddar Cheese, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder...and something else... You would pop them in the oven to puff up---all so good.. You could also freeze them for unexpected company. Again, I lost the recipe for that....I love those also..

It's a bit different as it's a hot dip. I posted the recipe here a while back -

I am not a big fan of dips.  I do like celery and blue cheese dip with buffalo wings.  I also like tortilla chips with salsa, pico de gallo in the summer when I can get good fresh tomatoes.   I like raw veggies, I actually prefer many veggies raw to cooked in any way, but I usually don't eat them with dip.

oh yea.. I forgot about Mexican dip! A love this at BBQ's

1 block cream cheese

1 can Hormel Chili (With or without beans)

1 bag shredded mexican cheese

Get a pie pan (glass is best)

spread a block of cream cheese evenly on the bottom.

Add the can of chili and spread evenly on top of the cream cheese

Add the mexican cheese on top. you may not want the entire bag. spread evenly.

Stick in oven or microwave until cheese on top is melted.

I like to use the Tosititos Scoops chips with this.

Indeed it is! We love the stuff!

I also love a good guacamole. Green heaven in a bowl! I could (and have) stick a spoon in the bowl and eat it that way.

Same with buffalo chicken dip. A GF made it for our department Christmas lunch one year. My co-worker and I dished it onto our plates and ate it that way....who needed anything to dip into it?? Good stuff! (When I had knee surgery, she brought me a casserole of buffalo chicken dip with a ton of veggies, crackers, and chunks of bread. Oh, man, I think I gained ten pounds and it was worth every bite.)
