Hello everyone! I know this is off topic but I really need help or any suggestions. . 9 months ago I found this cu tie kitty while I was getting back from school it was so cold and I saw a shivering kitty... to make long story short I took the kItty and raised her feed her well and everything that cat needs..two days ago it was so hot and I opened the window and Silvia (that's her name) she escaped through the window and I went lookin for her and I couldn't find her anywhere so the next morning my neighbor brought her with injuries... I don't know but her rightof the back leg was loose and she couldn't use it so she couldn't eat the first day but she peed very well so I too her to the vet and I paid $300 for her to get checked but the vet told me to pa another $300 for x-rays... so I couldn't really afford it and I asked the vet to give me some strong meds ... I really can't afford to pay for her treatments I love Silvia so much but the past 3 days she ate played around lil bit... but the thing is I realized that her ribs are kinda swollen and she can't pee like the past two days she's kinda having a hard time.... please help me out guys I really can't afford for the treatment si am still a ugh school studenot I just moved to the states 3 yes ago andmy only companion is my cat Silvia please someone help me I don't want to euthanize silva...

Welcome to the Catsite to you and Silvia :wavey:

Thank you for rescuing Silvia and for loving her.
I hope someone here or near where you are will be able to help you with the answers.

In the meanwhile, please shower her with a lot of love and attention and assurance.
Hopefully nothing too serious with her.

It sounds as if she needs to see a vet right away. She could have internal injuries which will be fatal for her if she doesn't get proper medical treatment. Is there someone you could ask to help you out with vet bills?

You could do a Google search for low cost vet clinics in your area. Another thing you could try is calling the Humane Society and asking if they can help.

Really you need to get her to a vet first and worry about how to raise the money later. There's always Gofundme if you need donations, but I think you need to get Silva checked out soon. Having trouble peeing is a bad sign.

If you absolutely can't afford proper treatment, you may sadly need to consider humane euthanasia. These sound like serious injuries--broken ribs in particular can have a whole host of internal issues, and it's likely only going to become worse and more painful for her, and more expensive for you the longer you wait. I'd really recommend getting the x-ray. The vet should ideally be able to tell you how bad it is. They may, by some miracle find she's only got minor injuries. They may find she's not treatable. But you simply won't know until she's checked out. If she doesn't get treated at all she may die anyways.
I do think considering fundraising is a good idea, but you do have to make a decision sooner rather than later. Best of luck.

Your location says Boston. I highly recommend Angell Animal Medical Center: https://www.mspca.org/medical-centers/angell-animal-medical-center-boston/ They do offer financial aid to those in need. They are located In Jamaica Plain on S. Huntington Ave. and are easily accessible by T (39 bus to Perkins St stop or E train to the last stop and then walk up the street).

Which vet hospital did you go to already? Do you live in the city or just outside? That will help some of us Boston-area members to find closer vets to you. There is a low cost clinic in Brighton that I have used in the past: http://www.merwinclinic.org/ However, the most they can do is a very basic exam. Your cat needs more extensive treatment for her issues. You will most likely be referred to a full service hospital.

Here are suggestions on how to afford vet care: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/no-money-for-vet-care-how-to-find-help-and-save-your-cats-life

Will your parents or guardians help pay for vet bills?

If you can't afford treatment after exhausting all the options, then you need to consider giving the cat up to a rescue or shelter where at the cat will get the treatment she needs. Or euthanasia. There are many cats waiting in shelters and rescue when you are ready for another cat so don't feel that if you lose the current cat you have no other companion in the world
. You can also volunteer your time at a shelter or rescue to be around cats and other animals if you are old enough. Or you can foster for a shelter or rescue, if your parents / guardians are ok with that.

Hello guys thanks for your help and taking your time to reply me... Silvia is doing great today she went to the litter box by herself and she even walked from my room to the kitchen (which is a long distance)  and she's playing around although she didn't fully recover . And LTS3 thank you for the information I really appreciate it. I took her to Angell Animal Medical center and they told me that they do not offer financial aid...  thanks for replying guys :)

That's a good start. I'd love to hear how she progresses. Did the vet recommend anything?

Surely you did not put the cat to sleep. There are different aid sites where you can borrow and make low payments. Please be careful to never leave your window or doors open. Our cats are very important to us.

Angell DOES offer financial aid to owers in need. I'm not sure why you were told otherwise.

http://support.mspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=AAMC_Boston_Financial_Assistance

https://www.mspca.org/programs-resources/pet-care-assistance/

I suggest calling the main hospital number and ask to be connected to the Financial Assistance office. Since your cat has been seen at Angell already, she would be considered a patient and would qualify for some form of assistance.

Angell does have a low cost clinic but it's out in Westford (near the New Hampshire border) which may be too far for you.

Which vet did you see at Angell? One of the ER vets? I would recomend the vet I use but he's booked solid until late September. I wasn't able to get an appointment for my cats until then. It's just their annual exam so they can wait.

How far outside of Boston are you willing to go to? There are lots of vet hospitals and clinics in the general area.

I wish vets weren't so aggressive about euthanasia. I found a cat with both back legs broken and only 1 out of the 5 vets in town offered help. The other 4 suggested euthanasia. Today that cat runs up steps like nothing ever happened and is happier than ever. I trust a vet about as much as I trust my own dr. Use your gut instinct when going to any dr. @Silvialuv

In Massachusetts, there is a fund known as, "The Shadow Fund". It is run through the Mass College of Law.. It think the one in Andover, or Lowell or wherever they are. . Please look it up.. I know the Talk show host from WBZ- AM radio, Dan Rea is a strong supporter of it.

It does help people with financial help for their animals..

Look on WBZ's website for it, or call The Mass College of Law...

Wishing you luck...

I know of a great Vet who just re-located to Wayland..(she was my awesome Vet)

What about the Mass Vet Referral hospitals?? Angel Memorial can be a stickler, unless they have changed from the last time I was there, about 4.5 yrs ago.
