Too playful after neutering?

Kitty was neutered today and when I went to pick him up I expected him to be out of it. Well he was meowing all the way home. He leaped out of the carrier when I got home and it seriously seems like he never had surgery. He has of course; his jewels are now shriveled [emoji]128563[/emoji]
I brought him home at 1 and now 5 hours later he still hasn't stopped moving. I'm trying to keep him calm but he's a kitty so yeah that's not working. I'm hoping he'll just poop out soon. Is it normal for boys to be so spunky after it?

Well, sure, it's just a flesh wound, snip snip ;). He may have been given painkillers, too, which would make him ride high. No worries; males don't have any abdominal incisions to worry about so if they feel well enough to bounce off the walls, it's not gonna hurt them.

Awesome thanks! I'm just freaking out he's going to open it up but I can't even see the incision so I'm guessing he'll be fine. He was given a painkiller shot so I bet that's why he's being a nut job! Thanks again!

Don't have to worry too much about your kitty. It's good to see him bouncing and proably that means the anesthesia has worn off or wearing out soon. Usually some will come back drowsy.
It's just a tiny slit on each side of his sacks. Not very noticeable.
Let him do his normal activities ecxept to watch after he uses the litter box and make sure no litter or litter dust is sty on the incision. If there are, wipe it off for him gently with a damp tissue. Just dab dab will do. And for the next week or so, make sure that there are no yellowish pus or smell form the surgery site. If there are, most likely it's infected and please bring him back to the vet immediately. The brownish or greenish stains are just disinfectant stain they use prior to surgery. It'll wear off after awhile.
Get ready for a calmer cat ;)

Thanks TabbyTom. I'll be on the lookout for infection. He had little crusties on his eyes when I picked him up. Do they put something on their eyes during surgery?

I don't what crusties means. But I don't think they put anything in the eye unless it's the anesthesia leaving the body through the eyes? Not sure that there is such thing as what I just said :lol3: I don't see anything on my boy's eye after I picked him up from the vet.

Crusties are dried eye boogers
LIke when you wake up in the morning and find flaky crusty stuff in the corners of your eyes.

I think they do put some eye drops in to keep their eyes from drying out. I've noticed a lot of post-op kitties have goopy eyes.

It was a total overload of eye boogers! They were a different color than his "normal" ones. Lol!

While he was eating I took a flashlight to look at his little empty sack and it looked like they made little half-moon incisions. Just an observation [emoji]128522[/emoji]
