Hi there I am new here and have a question for you all. I got a new kitty on Sunday from a local ad and the previous owners had gotten him 4 days prior. They said they could not keep him because he could not get along with their pets so had to keep him locked away. I told them that if they wanted too we could keep in touch and receive pictures and things. We took our new kitty home and bought him all new things and took him to the vet and all was has been well. Well 2 days later they said they missed him very much and asked for him back. What would you do in this situation?

I Would keep him. I would not give him back. The poor thing has been shuffled from place to another in a very short period of time. He deserves to be able to stay in the home with guardians who clearly want him (you). I would not send him back to a home where he was locked away in one room.
If you decide to keep him, please post photos of the little man and tell us more about him [emoji]128522[/emoji]

First tell them how much you love the kitty and how much you have spent. Then I would remind them that it wasn't working the first time, and ask what makes them think it would now ?

I'm not really sure how to reply to individual people so hopefully you guys get my replies. I did tell them that I love our new cat and that I could still in fact update them on him but I couldn't give him back. We already put our whole hearts into this and had made a family decision to get the cat in the first place and that our agreement was not on a trial basis. They have made me feel bad about not giving him back but honestly we love our new kitty, and so do our children. I will post a few pictures of him. He really is beautiful

I would not give him back. They obviously didnt want to make the effort when they had him. He now has the loving home that he deserves. Be positive with them and tell them that you are keeping him.

He IS very beautiful and handsome [emoji]10084[/emoji]️He has a very mischievous look about him...I bet he is keeping all of you on your toes. I have a brown tabby girl whom I adore!

Good for you for sticking to your decision!! Your new boy deserves the best life possible and it sounds like you and you family made the very thoughtful decision to give him just that. You have also done the responsible thing to have already taken him to the vet. He is a very lucky boy and I hope he brings you and your family a lot of joy. Please keep us posted on how you all are getting along. This is a great place to learn and share on all things "cat" so please enjoy!

Welcome to TCS.  So glad to have you aboard.  My cat is a tuxedo, but I have always loved those Tabbys!  Good looking boy you have there, and yes he does have a mischievous  look about  him, after all, I see him up there on the kitchen counter.  lol.   I am glad you and your family have this boy, and I agree, please keep it that way!!  What has your family named him??

mazie mazie hellomisskitty hellomisskitty yes he is mischievous and I believe that comes with the breed haha. He is an f5 Savannah. I find him on top of the kitchen cabinets and in the top of our closet daily! I think we will have our hands full. Thank you for your input as well I felt bad but at the same time we love him.

Oh wow he's a Savannah! No wonder he is so sleek and and gorgeous!
Knowing now that we are talking about a Savannah makes me even more suspicious of the motives of those people. Meaning that there is some sort of financial motive and nothing to do with the cat's best interest.
When you mentioned that he likes to be up high it made me think that something like this would be great for him:

http://www.catsplay.com/cat-wall-climbing-systems

This is just one of many websites that pop up if you google "cat shelves" do there are a wide variety of options for any budget.
Have you all decided on a name for your new family member yet?

That's what my husband had said is the reason they wanted him back. It seemed too strange how they just suddenly changed their minds. We can't decide between Amahle which means "beautiful one" or Nero which means "strong". He is very much both. Amahle is harder for my 5 year old to say though [emoji]128514[/emoji] hellomisskitty hellomisskitty

Those are both great names. Very unique names for a unique cat. I like both but Amahle is really distinctive and probably my favorite but you want your little one to be able to pronounce his name!

I'm really so glad you stood your ground with those people. Something shady was going on for sure. Your beautiful fur baby deserves a lovely life and I can your family is going to give him that lovely life [emoji]128519[/emoji]

I could never give a kitty back. I fall in love too easily. You are doing the right thing. He is your kitty now and has a forever home with you and your family. Yes, those people were up to something. They never cared about your kitty. Don't feel bad for them. He is your kitty now. Enjoy him and love him. He deserves to have a loving home and that is with you.
He is truly a beauty! !

Thank you so much for that. Loving Mickey Loving Mickey I feel a lot better now that I have heard others opinions on the matter. We love him so much and he always follows me around like a dog would. I could not imagine if I would have gave him back.

I definitely wouldn't give him back. I think he has found himself in a loving, perfect forever home and should stay exactly where he is!
