Have you been watching any of the Olympic Games ? If so, what are your favourite events to watch ? :blobmul:

No I am not watching the Olympics.  I occasionally watch figure skating videos from the Winter Olympics on youtube but that is about it for me and the Olympics.

We don't have cable; but I've been following some online and watching clips here and there.  I like the women's gymnastics and swimming. DH likes track and field.  If we could have gotten a subscription for just olympic coverage; I probably would have bought it.  We watch things via a Roku.  

I haven't been watching, just haven't been around a TV when it's on I guess :lol3:. I do enjoy watching gymnastics; the physical prowess is amazing.

I feel kind of weird about it---those girls (and the guys too I suppose) have dedicated their lives to gymnastics. They've ruined their bodies, sacrificed their childhoods, and given up gaining any marketable skills for future employment. And the decision was made for them before they were old enough to understand what they were signing up for. Once they're deemed "too old" for competition they're totally abandoned by the only community they know, and many end up working at fast-food restaurants with a failing body and no money. I feel worse about those from countries where heavier coercion is not frowned upon. SO. I like watching it, I just feel weird about it.

I know people involved in other sports are just as one-tracked, but I guess I feel weirder about the gymnasts because they're usually so young.
