Hi,

so my friend found a kitten at her house. looking at the size i think the kitten is around 3-4 weeks old. she asked me to take care of the kitty (named her Lulu) and i dont mind because i have a cat momma with 2 kitties (2 months old) at home. on the first day, Lulu just ate dry food i usually give the others but the next following day, i found out that my cat momma has accepted Lulu and breastfeed her, and she also help with cleaning Lulu.

what worries me now is that on the 3rd day, i found out that Lulu stool is soft like having diarrhea, follows with blood. im not sure whether this is because of the food Lulu ate on the first and second day, or because of other reason. btw, all of my cat is outside cat but they never go outside from my lawn. i dont want to worry much but i feel sad everytime Lulu go poop eventho she is still a happy and adorable kitty.

p/s: i hope someone here is able to help me figure this out other than going to vet because of $$$ problem.

Hello and welcome.

Poor little Lulu.  I would be concerned about the blood in the stool.

Do you have a vet you can call to get advice.

Many years ago when I was a child our family dog who just had a new litter accepted my 2 week old kitten Peaches.  And Peaches lived to be 17 years old, my dog was devastated when he passed.  So feeding from another mother I think is fine, but with the kitten sick now I'm curious if the kitten can give a disease to the mother or kittens.  Not sure how this all works.

Is there blood every time she poops?  Does it look like there is something sharp in her stool that she could have eaten and tore her as she went?

I'm confident an experienced member will chime in.

I know vets cost, but perhaps there is a payment plan they can work out.

So the blood happens every time?

Could be a number of things concerning this little kitty.  I'm glad she's in good spirits but the blood is not good.

Do you have any friends who can recommend a vet or someone to call to get advice.

Is that Lulu in your avatar.

She's cute.

I know as I already expressed, when blood is involved, all members would recommend the vet.

I'm at a loss as to what this can be.  Kittens are very susceptible to disease, heart worms, parasites, etc.

I understand a vet may end up costing, but perhaps you can just get the kitten in for a checkup to at least see what the issue may be.  They may recommend an over the counter remedy.  Is there a shelter or Humane Society close, they sometimes to work at low cost for certain situations.

I feel the only way to remedy is at least a call to the vet.

Anyone out there who may have thoughts?

I haven't had a lot of experience in this area but I understand that blood in stools is often caused by parasites. If I were in your position and it continues, I would contact a vet. I know it will cost but I'm sure you wouldn't want poor Lulu to suffer.

the only reason for the blood i could think of is her diet or the parasite worms etc.

i will get her to vet as soon as i have the cash.

please pray for my little Lulu

I am not an expert in this but my gut feeling that the blood in the stool is form either giardia or coccidia..Both are parasites. You really have to see a Vet, with a stool sample. They will give you medicine for Lulu and for all your other cats.. Yes, they will need to take it also..

And you will need to wash all bedding, even your clothes with a very good disinfectant, or a mixture of bleach with water..

Can any advisers help??

I would definitely get this done sooner rather than later. A kitten can go downhill very fast.. Lulu needs a good check-up with a Vet...

Keep us posted!! ((hugs))

If there are rescue groups around, they might be able to give you some safe worm medicine for her that will kill roundworms and hookworms.  Most kittens have worms and should be wormed at least two times, a couple of weeks apart.  If she is wormed for roundworms and hookworms but still has blood in her stool, then you can suspect giardia or coccidia, but start with the common worms that can be cured with common meddicine.

im confirmed that two of my 2months-old kitten have roundworms because i saw them vomiting the worm. will worm causes the diarrhea + blood for my Lulu?

okay, i will seek treatment for roundworms first and see how it goes.

btw, i stop giving dry food to my Lulu and give her boiled fish with unseasoned rice instead. the blood is less now on the 3rd day.

hi

just a final update here.

Lulu had cough a days after the last update so i thought it was not a big deal.

the next day she was fine, eating, playing and all. but on around 6pm i noticed she was really really weak. she cant even stand right when pooping. i had to give support so that she wont fall while pooping. then she climb on my lap as usual and gets even weaker. i put her next to her drink but she cant even stand right. so i lay her down on her favorite bedding and give her drink using a dropper. at this time she cant even lift her head. she just look at me with her big blue eyes silently.

few moments later she started getting seizures. the first one she cant control her body movement and keep wanting to bite on something then it stops after few minutes. i pat her head and then she had her second seizure where she lay still but crying few times. my heart breaks. i knew she was gonna leave me. i saw her breathing getting weaker and she was kinda gasp for air. she made a clicking sound using her tongue few times. and  yes you guess it right, my eyes was so watery on that time.

im not sure what else i can do to make her feel better. i was just so sad, i dont think i can watch her die. i know she knows that i love her the most and i dont want to make it more painful for her to see me sad.

im not sure if what i did was right but i cover her with a blanket and i left her to pray for her death to be less painful. then my mom told me Lulu's gone.

Lulu,

I kissed you enough. Goodbye for now love.

I hope you're happy for the short days we had together.

I'm so sorry to learn Little Lulu has left this world.

You both were lucky to have found each other, even if it was but for a moment in time.  Lulu had love and shelter because of you, most little ones don't get that.

She truly has the face of an angel.

I am so sorry.  Thoughts & Prayers for you and Lulu.

My boy Simon left me in June, I like to think they are all together fee of pain, looking over us.

Best to you, Hope
