Cat from shelter has gotten ringworm. Loss of hair on head is quarter size. I am treating with Lortrimin. I have her separated from other animals.

How contagious is she?. I have treated her for 3 days. I use gloves and hand washing to prevent getting it myself. What is safe amount of time to

wait to introduce her to my other cats?  She is a foster.

I think you need to wait a couple of weeks, until she is all cleared up.

You need to wash all her things in hot water and rinse in hot water..

And your clothes also.

Wash and sterilize her area as often as you can.. if not daily, then every other day.. Ringworm is very contagious...

I am sure other people will voice their opinions also.

I would not hurry into introductions. I would really wait until past the point where everything is under control and all spots are fully gone.. without any new ones..

Do you have a Vet you can call and ask?? there could even be an area you are missing...

When I dealt with it years ago the general rule that my vet gave me was to wait until 2 fungal tests came back negative before introducing to the rest of the household. Washing with just hot water will not work - you need to use bleach or a fungicidal soap to disinfect. The spores can survive temperatures of almost 110 degrees F. I may have been over zealous when I was dealing with it, but I disinfected floors, walls vents and anything else in the bathroom where I isolated the cat every other day. I had a bit of a different situation though in that it I had a cattery not just a few pets. It would have been a nightmare to have it spread through all the cats!! I knew when I took this girl she had ringworm but she needed a home where she would be loved and cared for.

Ok. I will give it time.I use gloves when handling. She is in a storage room on the carport. What scares me most is
Have to run a/c in room, and I worry about spores in air. I probablywon't contact vet. As foster, spay, shots,
Liter, food is covered.Been checking
And no other spots. Thanks for input.

I think you need to at least find a good fungicide in order to clean really well. I would wash all clothes, linens, and stuff with that plus laundry detergent, and bleach...

I think the bleach ratio is: 1/3 bleach, 2/3 water...for disinfecting...
