Hello!

My senior house cat, Sushi, is 13 years old.

2 weeks ago her puking worsened and she stopped eating, becoming lethargic. She was admitted for 2 nights at the vet, where they did blood tests and brought her back to her own self again with an IV fluids and medications.

After I brought her back home, she returned to eating and being active, but in a week the puking started again and much worst, until she puked blood.

She was again admitted to the vet's clinic for 1 night, and they checked her for Pancreatitis - but the tests came back negative.

They gave her a complete Ultrasound, but could not find anything wrong - no lumps, no tumors, no inflammation.. nothing.

So now she's back home, eating and hungry and communicative as ever, but I fear the vomiting will return.

What else can be done? is it chronic? or is it to soon to detect something in her system?

Thank you!

It could be that she just had a bug and it's gone now, or it could be she ate something that didn't agree with her.  My first thought with senior kitties is always kidney problems, but if they ran bloodwork and all is well, then you can rule that out.  Have you changed her food or opened a new bag or can?

Thank you for your prompt reply!

Yes, the first thing they checked were her kidneys - and the results were negative.

I hope it is just a bug, and nothing serious. With senior cats every medical issue becomes a life and death scare...

So now she's home and active as before, hungry and sociable, and hopefully her puking wont return..

Hello again,

My 13 years old cat's eating problems had gotten worst - again, and I am out of my wits with her.

She refused to eat the special hypoallergenic food I got her, so I put her back on her regular diet. She started puking again, I gave her anti-vomit pills and she calmed down, but has not regained her apatite. I mix her food with tuna and wet cat food but nothing!

She was checked by the vet numerous times and he found nothing wrong with her, and said it might be chronic like with many senior cats, but now she is losing weight fast and I will have to take her - again - for a transfusion.

All I want her is to eat, nothing more..

What else can be done besides watching her fade away?
