Good news! My feral foster mama has under sedation been fully vetted. She's in excellent health. The vet was astounded! We did little things, like oral panacur and oral flea meds. if everyone remembers she was the feral with a tipped ear who was already spayed who brought me 4 kittens. Ondine helped me through the process among others, The only thing the vet found wrong with her was ear wax. Yay I thought she had mites, but she is in amazing health. Two of her children are on forrescue.net Shadow and Stanley. They haven't posted Storm and Shady yet..

I don't know either, but she was nursing them. I guess she found them without a mom and took care of them. It's really amazing though!

That is too cool. But,maybe she never got spayed, only her ear nipped and that's all. Do you think so? Did they look like her at all?

Ok so it's a long story. I was feeding a feral cat with a left tipped ear for a about two or three weeks outdoors, I thought it was safe because of the tipped ear being a universal safe feral sign. She then weeks later spends all day bringing me 4 kittens, this was in June. I freaked out because I have 5 indoor fixed cats and didn't want to start a feral colony in my back yard. I wanted to save the kittens too. I trapped them all and their mom eventually. I didn't sleep for weeks during the process and I was so worried about them. I have a raccoon problem too, so super freaked. I eventually got them all and I called a rescue who helped me vet the kittens, and they wanted me to get the mom spayed. I took all the kittens in at 9 weeks and had them spayed/neutered . I was waiting for mom's milk to dry up to take her. When it did I trapped her using a motorcycle helmet, leather gloves, and a leather jacket to get her in a carrier to take to the clinic. When I got to the clinic I was told  she had to be in a trap, luckily I had one in the car, so I literally had to take mom cat into the bathroom of the clinic and transfer her to the trap. 8 hours later my foster liaison calls me and tells me the vet at the clinic said she was already spayed. They found a scar and everything, but she couldn't possibly be the kittens biological mom, which would make sense since she is solid black and none of her kittens are You can view them on FOR website forrescue.net their names are Stanley, Stormy, Shadow, and Shady. I wanted mom t get tested for fiv at the clinic and for whatever reason they didn't do anything except rabies vaccine and a microchip. I was worried she could infect my other cats so I found a vet in town who treats ferals and made her an appointment. Anyways. I did the motorcycle helmet thing again and got the mom to a regular clinic to be completely vetted since she is still in my sun room. I was excited because mom is in great health! The kittens had asymptomatic  coccidia, but they have been treated for that and are up for adoption. Mom cat is still in my sun room enjoying the a/c. I tried to let her out because of the whole feral thing, but she refuses to go outside. She's not adoptable at the moment and really cray cray, but at least she can't give my cats anything dangerous..Her kittens will eventually get adopted they are around 16 weeks old now. They have been separated from mom cat for about 3 weeks in another room, but they can still talk to each other through a crack I leave in the sliding glass door between my sun room and den. I have been trying to socialize the kittens for a couple of months now, Three of them purr!

Oh my gosh!!!! You've been so busy!!! I had to laugh about the motorcycle thing. Good idea though. Sorry to hear that someone in the shelter put you though more hardship instead of helping you. We had a dog that was so motherly that she also nursed our other dogs babies. Years later,

Oops. Years later, we got a tiny kitten, and she would nurse from our dog!! Whether or not milk was happening, I kinda doubt it, but she was at least, a pacifier!

Oh my goodness animals are so amazing! That's so awesome! I recently watched a you tube video about a baby squirrel named Rocky nursing from a cat . This squirrel learned to purr, it was somewhere in Mississippi.

Yep the motorcycle helmet was necessary. I had to apologize to the vet for looking like a  swamp witch when I arrived to her appointment. It took me and my two sons over and hour to get the cat in a carrier, I then had to ask the vet if she hurt herself hurling all over to avoid us.
