Poor thing!  I don't know what it is, but he needs to get to the vet as soon as you can trap or catch him.

The thing is herpesvirus is a virus but the eyes being all weepy is a secondary infection, so antibiotics can help clear the eyes up it doesn't always work with one round or course of them and ointment which can help dose not seem to be an option is there a shelter you can borrow a good trap from, does he need neutering to?? Good luck poor kitty

Hi, would amoxicillin work for this? I have some and could feed him some.

As for trapping him, I have ducks and around 5 other cats who all show up at the same time or just live at my door. So anything will be caught, but him. He seems to have his left ear cut so he has been caught at some point. At least I don't have to worry about that.

I would hesitate to suggest any type of antibiotic since there is no diagnosis.  The only suggestion I have, is that if it's herpes, you can try adding lysine to his food twice a day, but he really needs to get to the vet for a proper diagnosis.  We aren't vets and can't give true medical advice.

I'll look into the Lysine thanks.

If he starts coming more frequently I will try to catch him and take him to a vet. I just feel bad for him that this may take a while and in the meantime he is suffering.

Maybe there is a typical, most common type of bacteria that affects the eyes in this way and we could try an antibiotic that works for the these bacteria? . It may be the solution or maybe not, but at least taking a course of antibiotics even if they don't work for whatever he has, will not harm him. One could argue that it is bad to give antibiotics without knowing the type of bacteria for it's consequences, but in this situation the potential benefit outweighs the risk, in my opinion.

No one told me caring for this animals involved so much worrying. I feel like I can't look away like other people do. I can't imagine those of you caring for strays/ferals in more dangerous places than this. Like by the side of a road or where people like to shoot in the country, etc These condominium cats still manage to get in trouble as you can see :)

Can you call a vet or shelter for advice on what is common around you and what they suggest. It dose look awful. They could help with dosage. I so want to just wash him[emoji]128543[/emoji]
