So my cat was came home a few days ago with what looked like a minor wound on his paw, barely noticeable through the fur. Today, however when he came come the hair around the wound had fallen off completely, revealing that the center is a bit swollen up and slightly white.

Though he doesn't seem to be hurt nor bothered by it, nor does he experience any pain at all when I touch it.

But should I be worried about it getting infected or something, or does it seem normal?

Thanks for the help.

I don't know that I'd use alcohol on it unless you want him to scratch and bite the heck out of you
.  There are wound cleaners made specifically for that purpose.  Maybe something like Hibiclens, that won't burn too much unless you go to a Pet store and get something specific to animal wounds, if they have it.  Or you could try using colloidal silver on it.  Many people use that on wounds on themselves and their animals.

IMHO if he's not bothered at all by it, it's probably NOT infected, BUT I would definitely keep an I on it and see what happens, because it could change pretty quickly, especially if it's open.  I can't tell from the picture, but it doesn't really appear to be...looks like it's already scabbing up, but I might be wrong.  (and, of course, if it IS already in the scabbing stage, I don't suppose cleaning, etc. would do any good

I actually did end up washing it with a bit of 40% ethilic alcohol and he didn't complain at all. As if it was mere water.

I didn't go into details before, but if the wound is swollen and white, it's probably infected. Cats are famous for infected puncture wounds that scab over, trapping the infection below. That's why I suggest you take him to the vet tomorrow because he may need an antibiotic. Keeping the wound clean is all you can do for now.
