I got a new kitten last night. I was told she was six to seven weeks old but after getting her home and weighing her she is 4-5 weeks old. On the way home last night she cried all the way here. I showed her the liter box and fed her. She then kept crying. After showing her the box again she acted like she had no clue. So I picked her up and stimulated her. As soon as I lightly tapped she peed and pooped a lot. Now she will cry when she needs help but there is a problem. She poops almost every time with little stimulation but peeing it's not much and it is dark dark yellow.

She is eating wet food with kmr, not interested in water at all. I just gave her some kmr and she is lapping it up good. What else can I do to get more fluids in her? How often should I feed her she is 14 ounces = 396 grams. She is a feisty little thing and loves to play and explore.

She's precious! [emoji]128149[/emoji]

Dark yellow urine means she's dehydrated. I would give her the KMR to drink constantly until her urine runs clear. If possible, mix it with clear pedialyte for a couple of days. At 4 weeks old she needs the wet food too about every 4 hours, or 6 times a day.

Does she play with your other kittens?

No she doesn't play with them. They act like she is a big threat. They are doing the hissing and running thing. But it doesn't phase her she plays and runs like she is so happy. I will put some kmr in the crate with her tonight. I keep her there at night because she is so little I don't want to accidentally step on her.

They will all be friends in no time flat. It doesn't usually take kittens very long at all. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Good idea to leave her with milk in her crate. She needs it!

So proud of my Sassy today. She is eating well and has used the litter box each time I have put her in. And I just seen her bottom teeth are in today. Holly (formerly Precious) is playing with her well. Sweet Pea is very interested but will growl if Sassy gets to close. It doesn't stop her though. She is a feisty one that it doesn't phase her. She acts like she is as big as a lion.

She's making herself right at home! Glad to hear she has a playmate now too!

A couple of things about Sassy I need advice about. She is wimpering like a puppy. When I pick her up she wimpers but as soon as I set her down she is fine and will run and play.

The second I think she has an umbilical hernia. Its not always there but sometimes when she is playing you can see this little bump poke out. Kathy from the rescue told me just to keep an eye on it and not to touch it, she has seen some try to pop them back in she said?

The awesome thing is she is letting me take her through the rescue. I will be able to get all her shots, testing and spaying for the adoption fee. This is such a blessing.

It does sound like a possible umbilical hernia. If so, it is easily repaired during the spay surgery in a few weeks.

Are you keeping Sassy?

Yes I an keeping her. I found her on Facebook selling wall. I paid 20 dollars for her. The girl had no idea what she had. If I had the money I would have bought the rest too and sent them through the rescue to be adopted. As of this morning Sweet Pea has been playing with her. They are chasing each other room to room. The problem is Sassy can't climb stairs yet so she waits til Sweet Pea and Holly comes back down.

Lil Bit is doing well in a new home without children or other pets. A great couple adopted her about two weeks ago. They said she is loving her new home and has came out of her shell and is shining.

Yes they all have homes. Even the three that came with Holly have homes too. So I am down to the three I have now and won't be fostering again until after I have surgery and I haven't been scheduled yet so I don't know when that will be.

I'm so glad to hear that they all found homes! You've done such a great job with all of your kittens, even in the face of persistent problems. You've earned a well-deserved break! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

It's been two weeks since Sassy has been here. She has gained really good since then. She is a pound and seven ounces. Little girl should be big enough to be spayed soon her and Holly.

I have a question though. She is great with the other kittens and plays a lot. The minute the door opens she bolts towards it. Plus she doesn't like to be petted much. She will handle it a minute or two and she is done. I am thinking it's because she was born and raised outside until I got her. I don't think there had to be much human interaction. Where she is still young, less than eight weeks, is there hope to get her to like being petted more. What can I do to get her to enjoy it more? I know she may never be a lap cat like Sweet Pea or Holly but can she be more loving towards us. Also I have noticed she talks and tries to interact more with Larry and my son than me and my daughter. She follows them like a little puppy.

Here is a picture from today. She is currently being treated for a URI.

It sounds to me like she just needs more time to get used to living indoors. She is definitely young enough to become more domesticated, and she can be spayed when she hits the 2-pound mark. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I wanted to update on Sassy. She is about to get spayed. She is still not super loving but she will come and climb in a lap from time to time. I think she has chose my niece as her human. She will climb in her lap and just lay there and sleep. She seeks her out. If Destiny had her own place I would allow her to take her that is how much Sassy loves her.
