My Ziggy is a male indoors cat, almost a year old, not fixed nor any vaccines done yet except deworming. Last week I found a small scab under his neck and thought nothing of it, this week its bigger and has no hair on it anymore. I cant get a vet appointment until next weekend. Does anyone think they knkw what it is?

He needs a vet. If he is an outdoors cat, then it could be a bite from either a cat or another animal.. or it could even be an allergy..or a sore..

It could be infected...

He really needs a vet and needs to be neutered...sooner the better.

A couple of my girls get sores like that around their necks. They both suffer from allergies. The first time they got them was after I bought them their first collars. The tiny bit of nickle on the collar caused an allergy and they scratched themselves raw. They don't wear collars any more, but if the get bitten by a mosquito they scratch themselves until they bleed.

Have you noticed him scratching a lot? Allergic reactions can be caused by lots of things, fleas, mites, dust, diet, etc, etc. It's impossible to know what caused it just by looking, but you should check for fleas first of all and ask your vet what they think.

Thanks for your reply. I dnt believe he has fleas as he is an indoors cat but I will check again. He did have a collar on 3 weeks ago but somehow got it off and I just wnt bother putting another one on him. I just have no idea what it is. He had a vet appt in a week. I just pray it doesnt get worse.

Can you get in sooner than a week. I do not want to see that sore get worse, or infected. Try to keep it clean, by using some sterile saline eye wash, to clean it out..You can get the saline wash in a bottle, in the contact lens area. Just make sure it is only Saline--not the cleaner.. just saline..
