My cat just gave birth within the past 24 hour and I only found 1 kitten and I don't know if there are anymore outside she is in the garage right now. Someone please help me this is the first time she has had a kitten.
She is an outside cat so no I didn't take her to the vet. I don't know if i should let her out or not I don't want her to move this kitten and then we never see it again.
Where was the kitten found? Was she with the mother? in a nest area, or was the mother trying to pick her up and move her?
Personally, I think I would just let the mom out, and then follow her where she goes. She may lead you to the rest of the litter. I would not leave her out too long because of the kitten you have..
You need to stock up on kitten feeding supplies: KMR powder formula for kittens (petstore), some goats milk- if you can find it; plain pedialyte--grocery store or pharmacy. some eye droppers and a kitten feeding bottle.
You also need to stimulate the kittens to poo and pee. This is a lot of work, so if you can find the rest of the litter, it will be better for this little one, and for mom.
You have to feed the kitten every 2 hours round the clock. and stimulate it after every feeding.
And you need to find a scale to weigh this kitten daily, to see if it is gaining weight.
Are you in the United States? You should really keep your cat inside, and spay it after the kitten, if it survives is older..
I am just relaying information I have read on here.
Yes Artie's mom! I would advise just that.Follow her around as she will be going back to them. You may hear them mewing and then follow the sound although they would be very hungry and weak if you wait that long to find them. After she nurses the little one I'd let her out and watch her.She may go back to them.If all else fails,if you give her back the baby just about where you found her she might take it to the others but if it's been a long while she might not remember she has any more. Good luck
