my dilute calico finally had her litter !!!!

my dilute calico iris finally had her litter yesterday evening all doing well and stunning kitties :D i was surprised when the kittens arrived the father of the kittens is  a long haired ginger tabby and the kittens are just as stunning one ginger tabby female one ginger tabby and white female two a dilute ginger and white more cream colour males and one black male ! my question is where in the world did the one jet black kitten come from can anybody help on genetics when neither oftheparents have a black coat i know grey is a dilute of black but is it normal for a dilute to have apure black kitten ?

Oh my goodness, how cute.

How is the mommy doing...

I had a feral mommy who gave birth to two calico's, a full on grey and a jet black little male runt with the bluest eyes.  I'm not sure why this happens, perhaps genetics, like two blue eyed people having a brown eyed child...

I hope they are all well.  Best of luck...

shes doing realy well she hasnt left there side just for 2 mins to do her business and eat but shes doing realy well :)

of course her name is iris  shes a longhair dilute calico :D

They're lovely.

You might want to take mom's collar off, as kittens can get stuck in it.

Can you keep her inside and away from intact males until this litter has weaned?

she isnt wearing her collar now the picture of her is from a few months back :) and yes she is in doors now with a litter tray :) my step dad used to breed russian blues so hes giving me all the tips and advice :)

It's great that your stepdad is able to help!  Does the dad cat belong to you as well?

no he doesnt belong to me i have the grey male and the female in my profile pic it is my neighbours cat who fathered the kittens she wil be getting spayed as soon as she is able to i know it was him because my cats are indoor cats i let the kitchen window open one day when i went out and found him upstairs in my house with iris ! and yes i know there rare :) the two sandy coloured kittens are boys the black is a boy but the two ginger tabbies are girls :)

Oh, dear! Keep those windows closed! He was certainly determined.

She can be spayed when the babies are 8 weeks old.
