Hello Everyone!

We have two cats from the same litter, one scottish fold, and one scottish straight. One male and female.

When we got the cats, we knew already that these style of cats (especially folded ears), might have more closed nose canals than most cats, which would result in more liquid coming from the eyes.

This we clean at least 2 times a day, normally with cotton wipes (the circle ones used to remove make-up and so), bathed in normal temperature water, and they do not mind to be cleaned at all, so it does not seem to be any pain in this area.

I have had the cats to the vet 2 times, one for the last vaccination, and another for a health checkup (was some small stomach problems).

When i mentioned this to the vet, they just said it is normal, checked the nose canals with colored eye drops (none came out of the nose later) and they asked just to continue to clean it.

Now due to the skin always staying wet on one eye, you get this skin that looks like scarring, and i was wondering if there is anything i can do to make the life of the cat better? Creams, specific medicine and so, and if there is any good way to remove the brown coloring made by this liquid?

I will attach a picture here, and the problem is mostly around the left eye. The other cat does not have these problems at all. The picture does make it look worse than it is though!

I am quite new to this forum, so if i lack any information, please let me know so i can update my post!

What a beautiful little cat - the white fur is stunning.   It is such a shame the fluid has stained the fur - I know a lot of white cats tend to show staining around their eyes and people use something to remove this but I'm afraid I don't know what it is.  Mouse has has his eyes checked for draining properly as tends to get watery eyes but with his darker fur thankfully it didn't cause any obvious stains.

I hope other people here have some experience which is helpful for you, and you find something to help with the skin issue.  I will take a look around on site to see if I can find any of the threads which mention how people clean stains from white fur.

Thank you so much! :) The sister is just as nice as well!

The stain on the fur is more like a "extra problem", and is not a big concern, but would be nice to get tips. Though i should have been more specific with my photograph i think, since i thought maybe the owner of a similar cat (with a more flat face, that usually has these problems), would recognize it.

The problem that i have, is because the liquid from the eyes is so so frequent, the skin tends to get kind of bad looking, as you can almost just see, from his left (your left) corner of that eye, which is what worries me most, because if they scratch it, it gets easily damaged, which we also clean of course.. I was hoping more people with the same type of cat has faced similar problems! :)

I wondered if they were both that lovely fluffy white from the photo (little bit of her sister creeping in at the side there LoL).   The fur looks beautifully soft.

Ah, OK, I understand better now with the skin issue.  There are a few other breeds of cat which get eye problems too I think, possibly Burmese?    I'm sure there will be others around who will have ideas for you.   I hope so.
