Hey guys.  I have a 4 month old scottish fold that will not eat dry food.  Ive tried 7 different brands etc but nothing.  I give him canned food now but I feel he isnt gaining enough weight with only wet food.  Hes 14 weeks and weighs about 3.2 lbs.  Help me please!

I think you're actually lucky that he doesn't like dry food! Wet food is much better for cats and (since dry foods contain lots of fillers that are carbohydrate rather than protein) it's more likely to give your kitten the protein he needs to grow well.

What kind of foods are you feeding him? Kitten foods are often more caloric than foods labeled "for all life stages" so they might be a good choice. I'm not sure where you live but some Cat Site members have said their kittens like Fancy Feast kitten food. If you're concerned that he's severely underweight for his age--looks very skinny, you can easily feel his spine or ribs, etc.--it might be worth bringing him to the vet for a weigh-in and some advice.

What is your kitten's name, by the way? And that must be him in your photo, right? He's very cute!

How many times a day are you feeding him and How much? It is fine if he doesn't like dry food, wet food is better for him anyway.

Yes that's him in my avatar picture lol. He eats 3 times a day and I leave out dry food that he doesn't touch. I'm still trying to find a good brand and yest, only kitten canned for higher calorie intake for now.

His name is Marbles by the way, because of his spotted marbled pattern.

Although 3 times is plenty but If you are concerned about his weight then you can switch to feeding him 4-5 times a day. You can't really overfeed a kitten and if offered food a kitten is usually ready to eat every 4 hours (if they have been active and playing). Every 5-6 hours is the magic number if you can hit it.

Besides feeding make sure his activity level is good have play sessions and provide him toys etc.

By the way this photo really shows how much he trusts you as he is exposing his chest (most vulnerable area) to you. He should be very sweet, loving and social growing up.

Marbles has beautiful markings! And he looks like a very happy kitten.

Zoop is right about feeding him as much as he wants, pretty much as often as he wants. We find that feeding our (adult) cats five times a day works very well for them. Does Marbles always seem hungry or beg for food? He doesn't look skinny in your photos, though of course it's hard to tell because he's fluffy! (Some cats are just lean and angular, too, like one of ours... she always looks a little thin to me but the vet's very happy with her weight.)

Yeah guys so I feed him a can at 7am which he eats maybe half of them I have a timed automatic feeder with ice packs that I place frozen cat food in which is timed to open up at 11am and 3 pm then I feed him again around 7 and before midnight. The thing is he eats very little at feelings so I started 3-4 times a day yesterday so that he can eat more. Not sure what else to do, but most of the food (more than half) I throw out as wasted.

You said he eats half a can in one go is it the 3oz one or 5oz one? How much by weight is he eating all day? What kind of can food are you offering him?

You should not be wasting food, you should serve him the right amount and refrigerate the rest.
