Hi guys - so I just received a package of canned cat food from Amazon and OMG its infested with these tiny bugs. They're brown and look like little rice pieces almost. They all appear to be inside the plastic covering and all over the cans. I ordered 2 cases of food and the other one seems to be perfectly fine.

What is this?? Has this happened to anyone before when ordering food cases?

I threw the whole thing in a trashbag and put it outside right away. Luckily Amazon is refunding me but I'm so uneasy about reordering it now. O_O

They look like some kind of grub to me.

Good thing Amazon is great to deal with. I would be careful about ordering from the same vendor again. Most likely it isn't the fault of Amazon.

Disgusting !!!! What kind of food did you buy? I have no idea what they are. I would get it as far way as possible even out on the street. The box it came in also. I would ask for a refund and order elsewhere: like chewy.com

The food is Purina Pro Plan (I know, not the best but the only wet food my cat likes right now). I've ordered it countless times from Amazon with no problem. I thoroughly inspected the other package of food that was in the same box - even took out each can, and couldn't find any of the bugs (different brand of food...actually ordered it for a friend). I ended up re-purchasing it from Chewy, which kind of sucks because I get free shipping from Amazon.

EDIT: Someone on Reddit is saying that they are actually pupal cases of flies. That what most likely happened was that one of the cans had a rupture in it, and a fly got in and laid eggs and...well, yea. Yuck!

Well that's gross. Amazon is good about fixing things like that.

I order lots of food and treats from them and the only problem I ever had was a case of food was a can short. They sent me another one no questions asked. They sent it UPS next day air
