I'm sorry Maxx isn't feeling well.

How long has he been having this problem? How often does he have bowl movements now? What about before?

Have you made any changes to his diet recently? What kind of treats are you giving him and how many? What is his main food, i.e. wet/dry/home-made? is it grain free?

There are way too many possibilities of what could be going on. If he is severely constipated he might end up in an emergency room, so try to schedule a vet visit sooner rather than later.

Some things to try:

- Give him some canned pumpkin (NOT the pie filling) or Soulistic brand has it in little pouches at petco. Mix with his food or give it as is if he'll eat it.

- Get him to drink more water by mixing some tuna juice from canned tuna with water

- Switch to wet food only diet (if he's on dry food you must make a transition slowly, though)

- Don't give any treats until his bowel movements improve, since you suspect them to be the culprit.

- Include probiotics as a supplement, preferably human-grade.

I hope Maxx will get better soon

He's awfully young to be having problems.  Older cats will start having issues, but typically younger cats don't have bouts of constipation unless there is a problem, which could definitely be food related.  Is he any better yet?  I would definitely try the suggestions listed above.  You can also try using Miralax.  1/8 of a teaspoon mixed with a little water, then added to some wet food.  This won't work immediately, but might take a day or two.  And you might need to give it for a day or two.  My elderly cats needed to have it every single day, but they had medical problems that required it.
