My 4 month old was spayed last Thursday, so it's been not quite 4 days. She's a little more sleepy than usual, but mostly normal. Eating, drinking, playing, stalking the big cat, etc. I've never dealt with spaying myself and am worrying constantly. There's been no discharge, it's not warm, I'm just not sure how it should look. She has buried sutures.

I'm not sure how it should look either, but as long as she's acting normal, and the incision spot isn't hot to the touch or oozing, etc, I would think she's fine.  If you have any worries at all, you can always call the Vet and ask them if it's normal, even send them the picture and ask about it.

This isn't the best suture job I've seen; but, if there is no discharge, redness or heat and kitty is acting ok, just keep a close eye on things.

I've found that vets are either really good at doing internal sutures or they're not...really no in between. Many make the sutures too tight and the tissue doesn't have room to swell (natural occurrence after any surgery.) Regardless, *most* incisions heal ok within about 2 weeks.

As mrsgreenjeens mrsgreenjeens said, it certainly NEVER hurts to consult with your vet if you have any concerns.

I've just gone through dealing with an infected incision with my 4 month old Misha. She was in the hospital for a total of 3 and a half days. Your cat's incision looks great! It looks really, really good. Misha's incision was oozing yellowish-greenish liquid constantly, and then it was oozing white, what we found out later to be pus. It was also swollen. It's finally not swollen anymore, nor is it oozing. It's on the mend.

It will one day soon look just like your cats incision. :)

Thanks everybody, my mind has been eased quite a bit. It's definitely more scabbard over today, and Lil' Irish (the kitten) is doing parcour all over the apartment like a wildcat.

Scabbed, not scabbard. Love you, spellcheck.
