Hi guys!i just joined.
Yesterday I saw a strange thing.i was going outside to feed biscuit and tigeress (my cats)when a saw a feral cat jump out of the place tigeress and her kitten where sleeping and run away.I was so worried about the kitten.I was scared something had happened to it.(She only gave birth to one). Its about 2 weeks old and has opened its eyes.i went to check and mum and kitten are fine! At first I wandered that it's was the father but it does not look anything like the kitten. (He is red while the kitten is grey white)Neither does the mother.how could it sleep without harming kitten? I've heard the exact oppersite!(Tom cats harming kittens)Thank you so much for future help,Cat4Girl:rbheart:

Can you move mom and kitten inside? It's really not safe for a kitten outside as it is so vulnerable and has no immune system. Mom can also get pregnant again within a week...

The feral may or may not be aggressive, but he is definitely exposing the kitten to potential diseases and parasites.

I agree with above.  If you can move momma and kitten inside its best by all reasons.

Toms MAY harm kittens, its no myth, but its almost always  new arriving toms, whom try to come as conquerors.

Toms whom are pals with momma, are seldom or never any real danger, and often the opposite - extra protectors, sometimes even extra caretakers...  Be they the biological father or just a friend.

Kittens gets red from momma, as red color sits on the X-cromosome, so its nothing peculiar a red tom doesnt gets red kitten.

He may be the biological father, he is definitely a friend.  So he is no immediate threat.   Quite the opposite - as they seems to be outside, essentially unprotected, he probably adds some extra security to them.

Was it a full-grown cat? I'm wondering if he was hungry and trying to nurse?

I doubt he is a predator, but the safest place for mom and her baby is inside.
