What color is your computer desk?

Our computer desk is a dark cherry color (particle board; it's showing wear..).  Most of my wood furniture in the house and even the kid's bedrooms falls in that color category.  But my kitchen has light maple cabinets and my "office" is in the open kitchen/dining area.  I also have a similar finish on the china cabinet and table and chairs.  (The china cabinet and table/chairs were a matched set.)  I believe the name of the finish had cinnamon in it; but it's not too different from the desk's cherry finish.

I got thinking about this the other night when my cousin sent me a picture of the crib set up in their baby's nursery.  I "oohed" and "aahhed" but she said her husband doesn't like that the crib doesn't match the floor.
Their house came with nice light wood floors and they have a medium walnut stain on the crib. The walls are a medium, soothing shade of green.  I love the walnut against both; it compliments instead of blending in.
So I told her to tell her husband I have a degree in these things; just trust me.
She said she pointed out to him that none of their other furniture matches the floors either.

But now I'm thinking; if we ever get the wood floors I want installed, I need to be sure I like how it looks against the furniture AND the cabinets!

My computer desk is actually a bistro table. It's round, and quite high. The chair is also a bistro chair, a bar near my place was trowing them out, I got 2 for free.

Nothing in my place matches anything. I just want comfy, cheap furniture, I really don't care about the design part

None of my stuff matches either. my computer desk is a square kitten table I got from a clearance sale from one of the department stores closing-I paid $22 for it back in 2000. Its a nice deep brown. the chairs are regular kitchen chairs that I pulled out of the dumpster where I had lived-they threw them away because the legs came loose=I got some glue and fixed them. The chair I sit in is one of those swivel type kitchen chairs that were popular in the 1980s. It came from my parents house. I always used it in the office to sit at the computer but I put a pillow on the seat because Pumpkin face likes to lounge on it when I am not sitting there. And nothing matches other than the chairs are the same and the bar chairs which we never use-they hold stuff on the seats.

I never was crazy about decorating. As long as it doesn't smell and doesn't look too horrendous I don't mind. Most of the set up in the house is for the cats comfort=multiple beds and blankets drapped on things to give them a place to park their butts and sleep :)

My computer desk is, as you say particle board with a strip of light oak. It is old and falling apart. I put it together, myself, about 15 years ago. This is the second apartment it has lived in.

I really like lighter colored wood. I do not care for the deep colors. Not too light.. I love the color of teak.. so expensive. I like oak.

I am not into the whitewashed stuff. hate it.. I had one of those 1950's white bedroom sets while growing up. I hated it from the day I saw it, yes, I was a little girl. I still do..

My bedroom set is cheap also. I bought it myself, when I first start working. It was my first purchase; hence, it is cheap.. particle board also..It is walnut--also falling apart, but, for being over 40 years old, it has held up very well.

My floors are light colored laminate. I really like the light colored oak..very pretty.

I really do need to get some new furniture. I am waiting until these really break apart, or I move... that is when I will buy some.. but at that age, I will not be able to afford good things.. and it would not matter...as long as it was new and in working order...

I have a 'thing' about second hand stuff. never know where they came from. I hate yard sales, and 'antiques'...for that matter...I keep think of bugs and germs.. yes, my fears, from working in a hospital my entire life..

My computer desk is white! With a Chinese large table cloth (That my parents got when we were in Hong Kong) laid on top.

We have matching Craftsman style desks at home - dark Mahogany wood, although I'm pretty sure they are not solid wood.

This is NOT my house lol. But it is the desk. the drawer is actually where the keyboard goes.  It's a bit too large for my tastes but it matches the house well.  We got them from Overstock.

Oh it is a desk for sure. Not a side table. The drawer is a keyboard holder - it rolls forward and it's lower than the desk top.

I think it was only about $200 give or take - we got 2 and my fiance put them together. It's actually pretty good quality for what it is!

It's one of those pitiful pressboard-covered-in-paper-laminate jobs from WalMart, but it serves it's purpose.  MOST of it is still black, but I'm slowly covering it with a beautiful rustic wood "Contact" type paper.  Barnwood, reclaimed wood...you know that look.  It's still in good shape, and I can cover it far less expensively than I can buy a new one even though the roll of this paper are more expensive tan Contact.  Better quality, better look.

I love my desk. It's pine with a carmel finish and dental-tooling around. It's a nice big desk with drawers, cubbies, and lots of space. Two pieces, the desk and then the hutch. A big, clunky thing. I like having the space I need to work in.

For several years, Rick had been telling me that I needed a new desk (he just wanted my old one). I kept saying, "When I find the one I want, I'll buy one."  Well, several years we were walking around in this furniture store. I walked into a different room in the store and there it was. I ran back to Rick, saying, "I found it! I found it! I found it!" And it was delivered two days later.

Rick's desk is my old desk. That was is kind of retro, I guess you could call it. My dad used to work at our local hospital. Well over 30 years ago, they bought new desks and put the old ones up for bid. Dad bid on one for me and I got it for about $10. It's wood, that kind of orange-y finish with a solid black top. Four drawers and great big metal drawer knobs. It's a great desk.

Do they match the floor in the computer room? Um, no. The room is painted white sage, and everything seems to go OK in the room. I'm not complaining about it or anything.

my computer desk is a Sauder executive desk -- the solid wood kind. it's massive and very heavy, and gives me the space i prefer in a desk. i think this model was discontinued, which is why i got mine on clearance sale for just under $70.

it's this desk --

except mine is about 10 inches less in width (mine's 60" W, while the one in the pic is 70" W), and the wood is more of a light stain/natural color. this desk is where my external monitor lives; and i use this desk most of the time.

my 2nd computer desk is this one --

it's dimensions are:  23.63"L x 47.25"W x 29.25"H, and that's the color of my desk top -- cherry (laminate). it's quite solidly built. i love the design, which allows me to use zip ties to manage my computer cords/cables -- there's about 1/2 inch space (spacers are used) between the desk top and the frame below. this desk is where my mac lives.
