Well here you go guys, pictures of the mom and then the kittens. (Her face if long and she does not look like a typical short hair, but I'm no expert. Her tail has some faint stripes. Not sure if Russian blues are full solid)

The father of the kittens was probably black and white and I hope it was not Crusty (i will post his picture too at the bottom) because he is FIV+ and that would mean this mom would be too :(

She lives in a building further away, but when Crusty wasn't neutered he probably roamed there?

Crusty was neutered about a month ago or so by someone who TNRed him.

So, russian blue or not. What do you say? :)

Aww! Love the pics!

My opinion, she is not a true RB, maybe RB mix, or maybe just a beautiful girl!

Def have a black/white dad!

Crusty is a doll showing his tummy like that!

FIV through mating can only happen if the male bites down on the females scruff when attempting to hold, and bites too hard drawing blood, which can happen but it is not from mating alone and is not considered to be a risk.

The best news is, whether he is the dad here, or even if she were positive, FIV does not cross the placenta and infect the babies.

It is quite rare for babies to acquire FIV from mom, even if she were positive, the babies MAY test positive for their first couple/few months, but that is only due to her maternal antibodies still present in their systems.

Kittens testing positive should always be retested after they are 4+ months.

So no worries there :)

RB  ARE solid colored and visible ghost markings when adults are counted as serious fault.  Her eyes arent green being visibly yellow, she has visible traces of markings, including something alike the M on the forehead.  However, her head  and nose profile is OK shaped, she is slender by nature - even if she IS visibly undernourished.   And, she is solid,  no blue tabby although these markings, because none of the kittens is a tabby.  Tabby is dominant, so half of the kittens would be tabbies too....  None is, she is thus solid blue for real.   Blue is diluted black, so its no contrindicium for blackish kittens - in contrary, RB mixed out children are often black.  The father has apparently the white spot gene doubled up, because all kittens are tuxedos, not just half on them.

In short, I myself think she may be a RB for real, although of very pet quality - and perhaps because of this the breeder - probably a BYB having second class material from beginning - got rid of her in some easy way.  Say, sold cheaply without bothering to screen properly the buyer.

She may of course be "just" a somewhat look alike.  They arent as rare as is supposed.  With green eyes she would be a good look alike.  With green eyes and without these stripes she would be a nice Novice, if the novice port was still open...

For us it really doesnt matters much.  We are helping all cats and cat caretakers / owners whom need help.

My rescue black/white did not like them in the beginning. He is a savage and super territorial. The bully of the block until I kidnapped him :) BUT in a matter of days he opened up to them and then he was playing and sleeping around them. These kittens were lucky that a young couple wanted them both! My cat looked for them for a couple of days after they were gone. It was sweet. Hope they are doing great.

UPDATE:  NOT GOOD!

Well, 5 kids (different kids) knock on my door to tell me that the kittens are no longer in the closet. They said they were going to try and find them and would let me know.

10 minutes later they come again telling me they found them and took me to where they were.

At this point I am thinking the mother must have moved them again trying to protect them from these visitors.

They were moved far away from where they were, all the way into the back of a building that you had to go through a broken gate and all, into another closet.

I left food and water and I was satisfied with the lecture I gave the kids about how important it was to leave the kitties alone and let their mother care and protect them.

10 minutes later, only 2 of the kids come knocking to tell me that the other 3 confessed that they were the ones who moved the kitties!!!!!!! They lied the whole time pretending they had no idea how they got there.

I went back once more and placed the kitties back in the closet where their mother knows to find them and went back home. I saw the other 3 kids walking and told them I did not want them near the kitties and that I knew they lied. They didn't say a peep and looked down and moved along.

5 minutes later I her them again being loud outside and I come out and see them walking towards the kitties' direction, so I wait a minute and then go on my way there.

They went back to the closet and tried to open the door again, but I caught them and gave them a little chat.

Told them that they lied to an adult and put the kittens life in danger, but I would not tell their parents if they promised to stay away from the kittens for good. They said ok, but I don't trust them.

One of the kids asked me if I liked dead animals!!!!! He was the one with the idea to move the kittens. I told him he should never hurt any animals, but he then asked if insects were ok????? This one is a troublemaker to say the least.

At this point I think the kittens MUST be moved asap. I am befriending a neighbor who lives in front of the closet. He is the one that feeds her everyday in the mornings.

I asked if he was able to hold the mother and he says he can grab her. I am waiting for him to call me back so I can bring the carrier to him and then he will call me when he is able to catch her. Then I will get the mother and the kittens inside my condo. This will be another saga. I am so overwhelmed with all these cats and now this kittens.

I am super worried I might bring in some disease and get my rescue sick. I've read about ringworm, flea infestation, etc from bringing in kittens.  How can I prevent this from happening, I don't have the space to keep them in separate rooms. I will be using a dog kennel for the mother and kittens and cover them up with several towels to keep them calm. Suggestions please????

Sorry for the long post!!!!

I hope the neighbor can catch mama cat quickly, and that you'll have the mom and kittens inside by tomorrow, while the kids are at school.

Kids messing with the kittens has been my fear all along.

Ringworm is rare, and many stray cats are incredibly healthy. Some were even vaccinated house cats before becoming strays. If your resident cat is vaccinated, you have little to worry over.

I second this, and also the worry that this would happen.

Guaranteed the kids will be back there messing with them.

Flea treat mom asap, any fleas on her will die off rather than hop off :)

No worries about infectious diseases, any common sicknesses would be pretty obvious already, a cold, bald patches, etc.

Kittens don't have a good chance outside, they're are many predators that can kill/ eat them and the mother too.

hi guys!!

The neighbor tried grabbing the mom but she was suspicious of me and the carrier so she threw a fit and got away. I left the carrier with him and he will call me when he gets her inside, hopefully later on today.

I just purchased  Advantage[emoji]174[/emoji] II Over 55 Lb Dog Flea & Lice Treatment and I hoping another member on this forum will reply to a message with dosing for cats according to weight so I can administer it with a syringe.
This way I can have multiple doses for all the strays outside and now this mother and my own rescue at a reasonable price (Under $40)

If you have the dosing I'd appreciate it.

Do I need to treat the kittens too or are they too young for this drug? Also would this drug pass to the kittens via milk from the mother's treatment?

I am waiting on the worm medicine to arrive on Friday (Bayer Drontal Cat Allworms, Round and Tap Worm, 4 Tablets) and need to know whether to treat the kittens and mother with that as well.

Thanks for all your support and help! I am trying my best!!!! :)

I want to cry seeing the poor little things in the cardboard box without even a blanket. I often wonder why God made it so that cats can litter so frequently & put themselves in so much harm.

I do hope your neighbor can get the mom this afternoon. Are the kittems okay in the meantime?

The Advantage II is .8 mL on mom's neck. You can put a DROP on each kitten's neck IF they are covered in fleas. They are too young for a full dose. Advantage does not pass in mom's milk.

A cat under 10 pounds gets one Drontal tablet. The kittens are too young for a tablet right now.

I appreciate that you are planning ahead. I think we'll all feel relievd when mom and babies are safe inside with you!

Excellent.

Oh, I want to mention too that, the visual entered my mind when the neighbor was so confident that they could grab mom and get her in to a carrier.....but thought maybe she trusts him completely, who knows.

Anyway, she will be MUCH more leery of him now, may even need to be trapped, but let's see.

Smart of you to know that the extra lg dog sized advantage 11 can be dosed down, saves so much money!

I've done this with my cat rescue for years as well as my own pets.

Adult cat dose is 0.8 mls. so you need a 1.0 ml syringe for correct dosing. It used to work for a monthly, but I don't know about where you are but in California the fleas seem to have adapted to both frontline and advantage, causing redosing much closer to every 2 weeks for effectiveness, and have now turned to revolution until bayer fixes the formula to become effective as it once was!

The babies.

If you put 2 small drops on a surface, swipe it up on one fingertip, as much as you can swipe on it, but don't put any left over that you didn't get on them, this can be put on the baby's back under the fur/directly on skin. Finger usually picks up maybe 1 1/2 drops of the 2.

I don't normally recommend people doing this for safety reasons, but it can be done without harming them.

I say use it from a surface in case squeezing the tube causes it to squirt out, so this prevents that possibility.

Oh! When mom is treated, watch the babies do not climb on her back at all for a while, we don't want them scooting through the wet med.

Giving mom drontal is fine while nursing and won't harm the kids.

I agree, he thought it was going to be super easy, but the cat is smart and he is a noob in the cat grabbing business lol... I told him that even if she battles a little to just shove her in there to the best of his ability. I have a feeling that I will need to bring him the trap. I have it here. I just don't want to push the guy since he is too doing this pro bono, ha!

As for the Dog Advantage, I give all credit to member Red Top Rescue!! :)

Thanks for the dosing info.

I am anxious to see we can bring them inside tonight!! I will post pictures for sure.!! :)

UPDATE:

FINALLY!!!!!!!

Cat's in the bag! ha :)

This happened just now. She is a sweet mom with a mellow personality (so far).

I have the crate covered with towels so the mom can get used to the new environment and stay calm. So far she is super calm and feeding them.

I have a small amazon box with litter that I will put inside for the mom in a bit, but I was wondering about the kittens.

I'm not sure if kittens this age just poop on themselves and how to manage that. Do I need to put a towel for them and the mom to lay on or just the paper towels I have already in there will do?

Any suggestions are appreciated!!  I am stoked, they are all finally safe and this mom will see the sniperoo doc soon too!! :)

Hurray! Mom is beautiful!

A blanket or towel would be comfortable for them. Mom should still be cleaning her kittens since they are not eating solids yet, but there will be a little mess.

Mom gets spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old.

Mom will need her food and water in the crate too.

I have a feeling she used to be a house cat.

Thank you for taking them in!

Woohoo!!

Mom will clean their poop until they are older then she wont, but then they will have watched her and learned how to use the litter box.

Nice job! I'd put something soft down for them.
