Long story short, at the end of may our year old, indoor only cat jumped out of an upstairs window whilst my partner and I were at work on nights (the window was hooked shut, only a tiny gap for air, but the wind was so strong it broke the catch). We were devastated, she was nowhere to be found, but an hour or so later she strolled in acting like nothing had happened.

Obviously we were initially concerned she was going to be pregnant, as she has just come to the end of her heat when he got out. She had been having a week on, week off for the previous six weeks or so without fail. So we waited, but when her next season would have been due she started scooting around on her belly and rolling on the floor like she usually does when she's in heat. Shes never been a caller, so that wasn't an indicator. We assumed she had managed to avoid the males in the area or it just hadn't taken, as she hadn't been out long.

Then about two weeks ago I noticed she was looking a little heavier. Nothing major, and she still doesn't look much bigger than normal. The few times she's let me touch her stomach I think ive felt movement, but I'm not sure and she's not a cuddly cat. She just growls at me and flicks her tail so I've stopped. I don't want to make her uncomfortable. There are very small bald patches around her nipples but they didn't seem to change colour that I noticed. Maybe got a little bigger but not much. She's long-ish haired so it's hard to see without parting her fur, which again she won't let me. Her belly went very hard about two weeks ago, but the last two days is seems soft again and she doesn't even look slightly chubby.

But in the last two days she's become so affectionate, sitting on our laps, cuddling up to us in bed, purring constantly. She's still running around like crazy, eating normally, harassing her sisters (we have two older rescue cats as well). All normal behaviour. But today she seems to be moving around more than normal, lying down for ten minutes before shifting position or wandering off. And she was slow to go to her food earlier, although she did eat.

So now I don't know what to think. My concern is, because she went back into heat, or so we thought, we didn't keep track of the day she got out. Earlier today I went back through months of texts to find out what day I told my friend she got out, and worked out it was just after midnight on 1st June that she came home, making today the 69th day, and we still aren't seeing and signs of labour. I read that 69 days is the longest they go. Am I just going crazy? Is it a false pregnancy? Is there anything solid in their stomachs that could feel like a kitten? I have a degree in biology and animal behaviour so I know a bit about them, but I have no specific vetinary knowledge and my only experience with animal pregnancy is with my parents dogs and that was carefully planned.

It sounds like she is pregnant, and may be experiencing some early labor pains. I think you'll know in the next day or two. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
