Hi, snowpawprint and welcome! I'm new here too, but this site and these ppl and their kitties feel like home to me! I think Egyptian Mau cats are beautiful. I don't know much myself about cat intruders. What kind of area do you live in? Are the intruders getting into your home? Hiding in your car's engine compartment? Can you tell if the intruders have owners or are they feral? And do you have a picture of your kitty? I'm sure someone on this site will be able to help. And again, welcome!

I don't personally have a cat door/cat flap - I live in an apartment - and don't really know much about them.  I would try a couple things, though:
  • I would do a search on this site for articles/posts about cat doors.
  • I would try a search on the internet if you can identify the brand of cat door you have - there may be info about how to lock the thing against intruders such as other cats, raccoons, etc.
  • I would see if there were some way to improvise a lock - such as propping a stick/spoon/etc into the frame to prevent unauthorized entry at night.  But you can already see the flaws in this - your cat would not be able to use the door at the times you have the "lock" in place; if your cat is fine with staying in all night, you'd have to remember to un"lock" the door every morning (or whatever your schedule is).
  • If all else fails, make your kitten an indoor cat and disable the door altogether - nails, duct tape, etc.
I am a big worrier, and would be terrified of losing my cat through the door at night, or have intruders as you do.  My cats live with me in an upstairs apartment, and go out on the balcony only under my over-protective eye. I am personally a firm believer in indoor-only cats, but this is only my opinion; you do what you feel is right for you and your cat.

P.S. I don't see well, but I finally discovered your cat's pic as your avatar.  What a cutie!

thanks for your suggestions

i don't think my kitty (her name is Blossom ) would cope with not going outside but i will try to explore as many options as possible as i can't stand seeing Blossom so nervous when she goes to eat her food.

Hi snowpawptint, welcome to the Catsite :wavey: And also thanks for visiting January's photo album :D

Is there a way to lock or block the door flap so that the male cat dosen't get in and steal Blossom's food and spray all over?
Maybe for the time being, move her eating place elsewhere so that she don't have phobia about the door flap where the other cat come in?
If not, make sure Blossom is a 100% indoor cat and seal off the door flap and make sure she don't get out and other cats or animals get in through the door flap? That way she won't be nervous when she go eat her food.
Hope you find a solution to this as making Blossom nervous is not a good idea.
