A state of pretty conservative laws? Oh boy, I ain't making plans to live there!
Kidding.

I know what are fonts, but I just have the ones of my PC... I will try and download those things.... start making reservations on the Fonthalolic ward.

I'm glad I'm not the only Font-a-holic out there

I found this site ThemeWorld.com when I was doing a tutorial for a signature. It has tons of neat fonts.
That site looks neat! I'll be checking it out later when I have more time!

With the free browser you get on their website. You can get it with 2 free alphafonts and after that you have to buy the alphafonts. Here's a little demonstration how it works. I usually paste whatever I make in Publisher or PrintMaster. You could use any program though. Even paint. BTW... feel free to copy your name I made for you but make sure you save it to your own computer!

That's really cool! I've never seen a font place have that before. Guess thats y they want you to pay. Ok I will! Thanks for it its cute!

The laws here are sometimes kind of conservative! Thus... The Beehave State! Don't know if you can see it but the letters are honeycomb and have little bees on them. I love it!
That was creative! I also just learnt something new about Utah!

I used to use flaming text.com
It's great for generating logos and titles for your website. Unless the site has changed its free.

Okay....what the heck are fonts? I'm the resident idiot here, if you didn't already know!
I assume they are just really cool images you download or save onto your computer to use yourself?I feel like a real moron for asking, but hey, you only learn by asking, right? And as a person who has never had a computer class in her whole 38 years until I started college last month, I have learned everything from asking...how to copy and paste, how to post pictures ..... how to turn on the computer....

It's not a stupid question! Fonts are little files you can download from your computer and use when typin in word, working on websites and many other uses. You know what the coca-cola logo looks like? Thats a font. This we are typing with is most likely times new roman. This site someone posted here is really good so go here to see more fonts and download some. If you need help and want to download or use some let one of us know.

It's the style of the letters, Debby. Our site has 4 to choose from:

Arial

Times

Courier

Century

Your word processing program has dozens.

Okay the light bulb just came on!
Geez, I feel stupid!! We have been learning "Word" in my Computer Science class in school (college) and we have had to change the font style many times in documents...usually to Arial....and when you said "fonts" it didn't register in my brain that it was the same thing! *duh*
So now my question is....I just bought Microsoft Office XP, (The student edition,so I could do my homework assignments at home)and it has word on it...how do I download these to where I can choose them as font styles on word? Thanks for helping me GA, and for not making me feel dumber than I already do!

And thanks Deb, for explaining it to me also...I just now saw that!

It's ok! dont feel bad. We all have to learn about them sometime.
I have windows 98, not XP, but there's a way to see if I can still show you how. Go to your control panel (my comp is start, setting, control panel) There should be a folder for fonts. Let me know if it's there and I can help you further. If it's not...well there should be someone here with XP.
No problem! I like to help and you're not dumb!

Arrrg!

I downloaded a font... 1942 Report font... very pretty, classical and reminiscent of a typewriter.

When I wrote in it, it went marvelously until I started writing in Spanish! The font won't take the Ñ nor the accents!

I had to go feed my daughter, sorry! But her dad just got home, so he is going to watch her for a bit, which he usually doesn't volunteer, so this must be my lucky night!

Anyway....I don't have Windows XP....I have Windows ME...the Millenium edition....the Office XP I bought is just software...it has word, powerpoint, ect...I need it for school....I just got it so I haven't installed it yet. Was just wondering when I do install it, how I could use these downloaded fonts on it. I will go to my control panel now, like you said and see if there is a folder for fonts...but I don't think there is. Maybe I have to install Word first, which is on the Office XP disk...but I won't have time to do that till later this weekend.

Actually, your font file should be in your windows directory.

But when you download and then unzip the fonts you get to choose where to put them, jst put them in your windows/fonts subdirectorie and you should be up and running.

But then how do I apply that to the choices I have in "word" for font style?
