My eight year old tabby, Henry had major dental work carried out, just over two weeks ago.  Five teeth extracted, some capped (!?) and teeth cleaned.  Stayed in overnight at the veterinary hospital.  Was on antibiotics and pain killers - he was fine with them, ate as normal (soft/wet food).  Loves his food and likes to guard the kitchen door, just in case some sliced ham appears!!  He's been fine, no pawing his face.  Went back to vet a week after op and was given the all clear, bloods fine.

Yesterday was eating as normal, loves his food will eat constantly if allowed.

This morning, a different cat.  Hasn't eaten anything at all, been sick about 3 times (bile and foam) that I know of.  Very lethargic, just sleeping.  Sitting out side and sleeping there.  Not my Henry at all.

Haven't contacted the vets yet, as it's only happened this mornng.

Any advice please, is welcome.

Give your vet a call.  There could be something going on with the dental work or another unrelated issue.

Henry is back in doors now, sleeping on favourite chair.  Have tried to tempt him with food, but nothing!

I'm thinking i should just leave him today and if he's still the same tomorrow, then take him down the vets.  Taking him to the vets is very traumatic for him, he get's really scared, so don't want upset him unnecessarily.

I am hoping he might perk up by tomorrow.

Pick up the phone and give them a call?   Most vet are ok with this. They might be able to assist without him having to attend.

I would call the Vet. You really should update them and ask for their advice on this. Sounds as if he is an outdoor cat. He could have eaten something harmful outside.

yes call the vet=maybe he needs some meds to stop vomiting and they will want to see him=you should get him looked at-this is something that could be related to the tooth pulling or not. Rather have the cat looked at and not be serious than to leave the cat to continue to deteriate. Cats get dehydrated when vomiting. They can administer sub fluids and anti nausea meds-this will help decide if they want to do another round of antibiotics or if there is something else going on.

has your cat eaten anything it shouldn't? if there is a blockage-the meds wont stop the vomiting but it will help to figure out WHY the vomiting.

have you changed their diet or added something new in the last week?
