It's CAMEL DAY!!!

So...here is our situation.  You have found $1000 in a parking lot.  You have attempted to find the rightful owner, to no avail.  You have had an attack of conscience, and have decided not to use any of it for personal things, but to donate it all.  You may divide it, and give $500 to each of two charitable organizations.

This is the question.  What TYPE of organization (do not name a particular organization, only the type) do you donate to and why?

I am giving $500 to a reputable cat rescue.  It seems easier to get donations for dogs, with their sad eyes.  Unless you really know cats, you probably don't realize how expressive their faces are.  AND I'm giving $500 to a battered women's shelter.  Because I've been there.

I'm giving $500.00 to a cat shelter that specializes in taking in cats with either some sort of disablilty/illness and senior kitties. Because, as my sweet 6 year old niece once said "even cats with one eye deserve to have a home". She says this as she picked out a cat to adopt for her 6th birthday present...could not be prouder of that girl than I was in that moment.
The other $500.00 would go to a national organization which funds research and supports survivors of a particular health diagnosis. Because I've been there.

I would take one 500 and donate to a food bank where they feed the hungry. The other 500 I would have to give to a person. Someone that is going through a hard time financially either someone going through medical hardship or loss of job.

 Only I'd give the whole $1,000 to the shelter.

I would give 500 to a cat shelter and the other 500 to the "Make a Wish Foundation"... they make wishes come true for kids with cancer. Or to the Special Olympics...

I would give half of it to my church. I would try to find a no kill shelter and donate the rest. I might have a problem, because there aren't any close to me that I know about.

Half would go to the rescue we got Cocoabean from.

The other half, like @Louann Jude, I'd give to my local food bank. Nobody should go hungry.

Half would go to the shelter that I got Henry from as they are a true no kill shelter and run solely on donations. The other half would go to Wounded Warrior Project to help wounded vets  

half to a cat rescue for special needs cat then the other half to veterans who need medical assistance for mental illness.

I would donate to a local cat rescue and the red cross. 

i'd donate half to a rescue specifically devoted to the care of senior and/or special needs cats, and half to a local rescue.

I would give it to an animal rescue place. 

I would give it to the animal rescue where I volunteer.

See, I KNEW I was hanging with a bunch of folks with GOOD hearts!
