My cat just had kittens 11 days ago and her face looked a little swollen so I gave her 1 CC of  benadryl and she hasn't been acting the same since then. She won't leave one spot in our house, she won't eat or drink, she doesn't want people near her, and she isn't tending to her kittens. There was a point where she went into her littler  box ( which is dark and closed in ) and just took a nap. I picked her up to move her into the box with her kittens, and I left my closet door open ( it's where she had the kittens but I had to move them because there were ants ) .  This morning she used the restroom and that was the only time today. She was fine up to the point that I gave her the benadryl. Is there anything I can do? My parents don't want to take her to the vet because it's so expensive but if it gets worse they will.

Can someone please help? Thank you.

She needs to go to the vet now. Even one day of not eating is dangerous for a cat. Are you supplementing the kittens? They will quickly die if they are not eating.

The vet isn't open today and the kittens are getting hand fed right now. Do you know what might be wrong with her?

Can you post a pic of her face today and one from before it got swollen?  If she hasn't been acting right since the Benadryl then that's probably why she's acting strange.  Hopefully it'll wear off soon.

Call the vet anyways. There should be an after hours voice mail message that will tell you who to call for emergencies. At least give that emergency phone number a call and talk to a vet abour your cat's symptoms.

There are suggestions here on how to afford vet bills: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/no-money-for-vet-care-how-to-find-help-and-save-your-cats-life

Vet bills are expensive in general so consider setting aside money to use for the cats. Maybe open a bank savings account. Ask your parents to help to get the savings accounted started with some money. Or look into pet insurance.

Yes you were right! I must have given her too much and she just started to act strange. After about an hour her face swelling went down and shes with her kittens. Thank you so much!

You're welcome!  I wonder why her face is swelling?  I'd still look into that.
