Hello [emoji]128522[/emoji]
This is my first thread. I'm brand new. I have a two year old cat named Elsa who is very pregnant (7-8 weeks ish). This is her second litter. I adopted her and her 8 month old son Marshall a month ago. Marshall is neutered. Actually I found out Elsa was pregnant when I brought her to get spayed. Anyway my ?? Is that Elsa is very anxious around her son and hisses at him, scratches him, and actually growls at him. I've made her a place to have the kittens and she spent most of last night scratching her kittening box lol. Do I need to keep Marshall away from the kittens? Would he hurt them? I'm sure Elsa will show me if she's comfortable with Marshall after the babies are born but do I need to worry about Marshall hurting the kittens,

Moms can get really territorial before delivery.  It's probably wise to separate them now if mom is unhappy, and then you can follow her lead on introductions when the kittens are a few weeks old.

Is Marshall neutered now?

Thank you for rescuing them!

Yes he is neutered. I've been keeping her in my room where her kittening box is at night and Marshall out of the room. I've been through kitten birth before but never with another cat in the house and I'm just not sure what to expect from Marshall.

Mom considers Marshall a threat to her unborn kittens at this point, as she would any predator, and poor Marshall just wants to be with his mom and know what's going on.

Best to keep them separate for now, as Talking Peanut suggested, and give Marshall a little extra attention when you can. Mom will allow him around her kittens at some point down the road.

Great thank you. It's sounds silly but I know lions will kill cubs that aren't theirs so I was worried about that with Marshall. Lol

Just today Elsa began following Marshall around to clean him and cuddle. She must be close to delivery.

I noticed that Elsa was discharging some pinkish reddish mucus today. Babies very soon. I'm thinking by tomorrow?

Three beautiful babies have made their appearance. Elsa belly is still quiet large and I felt some movement so I don't think she's done. Taking a break I think

My kittens are six days old now. There were all doing fine. Since last night the littlest kittens has stopped nursing. I have tried many times to get him on a nipple. I've even tried to bottle feed him. I can't get him to eat. The vet I called said they are so young there's not much they can do. Is my kitten dying? What do I do?

I'm having the exact same problem right now and my vet said the same thing. But he said that we should give her something called kitty milk every hour.

Nursing kittens with a mom will not take a bottle. Try using a needleless syringe or a dropper. You must feed the kitten every hour for now if it is to live. Kitten and milk must be warm. One drop at a time into the cheek, then let the kitten swallow. Tummy down and head up, like it would nurse from mom.

Are you using kitten milk replacer?

How is your kitten doing now?  Have you been able to use a dropper or syringe?
