Turns out her computer had upgraded to Windows 10. She had been running Windows 8.1.

She called me the other day, in a tizzy. She had turned her computer on and it was all screwy. Nothing was as she remembered and she didn't know how to access anything. Then she started talking to me about Cortana and Edge. And I knew what happened. Told her to hang on, that I'd come up Friday night.

We went up to visit and, sure enough, she's now a Win 10 user. No biggie. I got things fixed up for her, got everything in order and got it all to where she wants things to be. The worst part was that she had been using Outlook Express (she says she was, but I don't think so as I thought Express went the way of XP, but I could be wrong). Anyway, she refused to buy Outlook, so we got Windows Live Mail for her. It's set up and she's getting her emails. I did have to call her ISP for a bit of help with accessing her emails; turned out that Kaspersky is not playing nice with her Win 10. Got that straightened-out, but while I was talking to her ISP tech, I found that people are starting to sue Microsoft about forcing the Win 10 upgrade. And now, evidently, there's talk of a class action suit.

I had upgraded to 10 on my own with both our desktop and our laptop, so I was able to configure it the way I wanted. Since her computer upgraded on its own, it took me a while to finangle things around for her. I was there for a little over two hours, just trying to help her figure out 10. But it's done and I think she'll be OK.

A word of warning, though....upgrades are still being done on computers, whether it's wanted or not. I think yesterday was the last day for the free upgrade, but I'm not sure.

Did you bring her some Lemon Blueberry Scones?  A really good friend would have brought a homemade treat.

My computer wouldn't download Windows 10.. I kept getting a 'missing files' message.  It didn't stop them from hounding me though.  I'm glad I've stayed with 8.1.
