Can anyone offer any advice for me, please.
Ok, I have the most adorable 3 month old tortie. She was feral when I got her, but I believe she is domesticated now because she is so sweet and affectionate and she loves to cuddle and give kisses.
When it comes to food, however, she is a monster She won't even let me put her dish of food down without clawing my hand and then she eats so fast as if panicked that it's her last meal.
I am thinking she may have been starving in the wild and never had a mother, and this is some psychological damage that needs healing.
When I cook, if my back is turned toward her, she will latch onto my back with her claws. It doesn't hurt too much, but this needs to stop.
I have had to put her in my room and close the door when I prepare her food and then after I put it down, I let her out of the room and she rushes in so insanely and eats so fast.
When I am trying to eat, she tries to get my food and has jumped and latched onto my boyfriend when he was eating cookies. She is desperate for everything. She even tries to get my vitamins as I take them.
Does anyone have any suggestions to retrain her?
I figured I am going to have to put her in my room when I cook or eat just like I do when I prepare her food.
