How much should I feed?

I have four cats: two 11 months and two 4 months. I feed them twice a day: four 3 oz (Classic Fancy Feast) canned food and plus 100 ml (Purina One)dried food per meal. Nothing in between. Do you think this is enough? They don't seem too hungry but they clean up the plates very fast. I don't want them to be fat but I don't want to starve them. Can someone tell me if this is enough? Thanks!

It may be a good idea to feed them at least one more meal a day- at least for the younger cats. Younger cats need to have more meals a day. The rule of thumb with kittens is to feed them as much as they want so if they would eat more, go ahead and feed them more.

Thank you NewYork1303. The small ones now are four months. One is already six pounds. I am not sure if he is too fat for his age. I am not sure if portion control is appropriate at this age.

At this age portion control is not a big deal. This can of course be reevaluated when they get older. Different kittens grow at different rates. As long as they don't appear fat they are probably alright.

Hi there, I agree with this. Just give them as much as they want as they are growing, not just maintaining their weight. Once they get to about 6 months old the growing should slow down and this is the age where you want to ideally get them neutered. often, particularly boys, can put weight on more easily once neutered so until this stage I would just give them as many (ideally at least four) feeds a day as possible as their stomachs are a little smaller so no point overwhelming them as it could lead to vomitting. Hope this helps.
